About the Team

Workday’s Global Revenue Enablement team is seeking a highly qualified and visionary Principal Learning Experience Designer, AI Strategy. This isn’t just a senior individual contributor role; it’s a pivotal opportunity to define and drive how AI transforms our learning experience workflows. This unique position offers a compelling blend of strategic leadership and hands-on impact, empowering us to pioneer new approaches and leverage innovative technology to achieve unprecedented efficiency. About the Role

This critical role combines strategic leadership with expert execution, focusing on two key areas:

Pioneering AI Integration (75%):

You will be the architect of our AI strategy for learning design, defining how AI tools and systems are integrated and optimized to dramatically enhance our team’s productivity, efficiency, and scale! This involves identifying, evaluating, and championing the best-in-class AI solutions, building compelling cases for investment, and leading the charge in developing standard processes and training for our team’s effective and ethical AI usage. You’ll be our primary Learning Design AI subject matter expert, staying ahead of trends and ensuring seamless integration with IT and other cross-functional partners.

Expert Learning Experience Design (25%):

While driving AI strategy, you’ll also apply your deep instructional design expertise to lead the design and development of highly complex, strategic, and engaging learning experiences. You’ll continue to create innovative online, blended, and instructor-led solutions, demonstrating mastery of e-learning authoring tools. This part of the role offers the chance to directly influence high-impact projects, collaborate with executive leadership, and mentor other designers.

Responsibilities:

  • Champion and Strategize AI Integration: Define and lead the strategy for integrating AI tools into learning design workflows to significantly boost productivity, efficiency, and scale.
  • AI Tool Identification & Implementation: Identify, evaluate, recommend, and implement best-in-class AI tools and platforms, along with standard processes and ethical guidelines for their use.
  • AI Subject Matter Expertise & Value Articulation: Serve as the primary AI expert for the team, staying current with trends and building compelling business justifications for AI tool investments.
  • Lead Complex Initiatives: Drive the design and development of highly complex and strategic learning solutions (online, blended, and instructor-led) for a global sales audience. Apply Instructional Design principles and adult learning theory to create innovative and impactful experiences that successfully compete for seller attention.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Mentorship: Collaborate extensively with senior SMEs, decision-makers, and executive leadership, while also mentoring less experienced designers on complex challenges and new technologies.
  • Project Leadership & Quality Delivery: Independently manage multiple large-scale, high-priority projects, ensuring adherence to aggressive timelines and exceptional quality.

About You

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of corporate experience in instructional and learning experience design with a portfolio of high-quality complex learning deliverables built using various authoring and elearning development tools.
  • 3+ years of experience applying enterprise level AI tools and deep understanding of the current AI landscape to enhance productivity and content creation in an instructional design and learning experience context.
  • 5+ years of experience leading large, complex learning projects with diverse global decision makers and collaborators in a fast-paced technology-first environment.

Other Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in Adult Learning, Learning Technology, or a related field.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate across all organizational levels.
  • Hands-on experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), Workday Learning preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, drive initiatives, and mentor others.
  • Deep knowledge of learning analytics and reporting leveraging AI.
  • Certification or specialized training in AI ethics, prompt engineering, or AI for L&D.
  • Experience creating accessible and localized learning content.

Workday Pay Transparency Statement

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below.  Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Recruiters can share more detail during the hiring process. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. Primary Location: USA.GA.Atlanta 

Primary Location Base Pay Range:  $124,200 USD – $186,400 USD

Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $118,000 USD – $209,700 USD
