The Instructional Designer supports the design and development of high-quality online, blended, and technology-enhanced courses that align with institutional standards and learning outcomes. This position collaborates with faculty and subject matter experts to apply best practices in instructional design, emerging technologies, and evidence-based pedagogy. The role ensures instructional content is accessible, inclusive, and aligned to strategic goals for student success, retention, and workforce readiness.

The salary for this position begins at $58,491.00 and is commensurate with education and experience. This is an on-site position in Dayton, Ohio.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with faculty and eLearning Division colleagues to design, develop, and revise credit and non-credit courses
  • Apply instructional design principles and AI tools to design and/or develop effective course materials
  • Ensure accessibility and quality standards are met in course design
  • Integrate emerging technologies, AI, and media for effective learning experiences
  • Support professional development and faculty training related to instructional design
  • Maintain documentation, project tracking and support assessment of course impact
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field such as education, instructional design or instructional technology required; master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Instructional Design required
  • Proficiency in LMS platforms (D2L, Canvas) authoring tools (Articulate, Camtasia), video editing tools, and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) required
  • Experience and expertise in project management required
  • Ability to contribute and thrive in a high-energy, creative and collaborative team environment required
