The Academic Operations and Curriculum Manager (payroll title: Program Operations Specialist) serves as the primary individual responsible for curriculum management and provides oversight of day-to-day curricular operations, coordinating with the Associate Chair for Education, Academic Services Directors, Instructional Lab Manager and other members of the department. This position will oversee the scheduling of approximately 210 courses and 140 lab sections of ECE per academic year. ECE has five-degree programs:  one Bachelor of Science, three Masters of Science (combined BS/MS, Daytime Masters, Professional Masters), and one PhD.  The Academic Operations and Curriculum Manager   provides key data analysis for ECE needs.  This position enhances and maintains the curriculum infrastructure and academic operations support required to maintain a high quality and productive academic environment in ECE. This position supervises the Academic Services Program Coordinator and reports directly to the Director of Academic Services and is expected to independently carry out duties in a professional manner.

 

Responsibilities & Duties

Curriculum Management – 65%

  • Facilitate the Curriculum Improvement Processes (CIP) by working with faculty leadership to design policy around CIP.
  • Develop and maintain processes around course forecasting and introduction of new courses in consultation with faculty, Associate Chair for Education and Advising Directors.
  • Review course offerings for cohesion and viability.
  • Manage assessment and review processes in committees on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Perform analysis and make recommendations related to annual and quarterly curriculum planning & design to the Advising Directors and Associate Chair of Education.
  • Monitor course enrollment data, create and provide reports, and perform curriculum audits in collaboration with the Associate Chair of Education and the Advising Directors.
  • Manage curriculum programming by working with other departments and units regarding joint and shared course offerings.
  • Develop, maintain and oversee Program Proposal processes and policies guiding faculty through course proposal and program revisions and work with faculty and other units in the College and University for approval of proposals.
  • Monitor progress of proposals and work with the College of Engineering and UW Curriculum Office to develop solutions to raised issues.
  • Assist Faculty ABET Coordinator with ABET accreditation processes in collaboration with the College of Engineering.
  • Develop systems to track, archive and compile data and reports for ABET accreditation process.
  • Develop and maintain teaching assignment policies.
  • Facilitate and oversee the administration of Curriculum Committee meetings.
  • Develop and maintain faculty curriculum resources.

 

Curriculum and Program Operations – 20%

  • Oversee the course needs administered by the Academic Services Program Coordinator which includes additional rooms for exams, equipment needs, disability accommodations, course schedule changes and liaison with the Professional Master’s Program.
  • Onboard faculty with scheduling and proposal processes.
  • Assist faculty with policies relating to curriculum.
  • Consult on faculty teaching schedule.
  • Provide data as needed for operational needs.
  • Oversee data input administered by the Academic Services Program Coordinator.
  • Create forecasting tools and systems for faculty leadership and Advising Directors to make admission decisions for the department. Responsible for data analysis to determine how admission resources are allocated. Provide recommendations based on data to faculty for decisions.

 

Supervisory– 15%

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and mentoring for the Academic Services Program Coordinator, who administers the time schedule, room reservations, reg groups, textbooks, add codes, records retention and other duties and be prepared to step in and assist when needed
  • Hire, onboard, and train the Academic Services Program Coordinator, assign and review work, and conduct annual performance reviews.
  • Conduct regular check in meetings with the Academic Services Program Coordinator.
  • Actively foster a positive and inclusive working environment.

 

Lead Responsibilities: Course Scheduling at all levels, course proposals and infrastructure at all levels, course evaluation at all levels.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position supervises one 100% FTE Academic Services Program Coordinator.

 

Working Environmental Conditions: Flexible work schedule to meet critical deadlines.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR education/experience equivalent may substitute for degree.
  • At least two years of experience in a higher education environment, or equivalent experience.

 

Additional Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information succinctly to individuals and groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with faculty, staff and students, including ability to work as an effective team member.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a proven ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines in fast-paced environments.
  • Demonstrated experience accessing, synthesizing, and analyzing information from a variety of database platforms including relational databases.
  • Use independent judgment and interpretation of University policy.
  • Able to effectively utilize technology platforms and survey tools such as Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) Google Suite, Sharepoint, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex logistical problems.
  • Ability to lead processes and projects from start to finish where multiple stakeholders are involved.
  • Prior experience leading and managing staff.

 

Desired Experience

  • Experience with University curriculum processes or curriculum development.
  • Familiarity with University database systems.
  • Ability to manage faculty relationships in relation to curriculum needs.

 

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$79,200.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$84,000.00 annual
