Department Summary

The Fowler Museum at UCLA explores global arts and cultures with an emphasis on Africa, Asia, the Pacific, andthe Indigenous Americas—past and present. The Fowler enhances understanding and appreciation of the diverse peoples, cultures, and religions of the world through dynamic exhibitions, publications, and public programs, informed by interdisciplinary approaches and the perspectives of the cultures represented. Also featured is the work of international contemporary artists presented within the complex frameworks of politics, culture and social action. The Fowler provides exciting, informative and thought-provoking exhibitions and events for theUCLA community and the people of greater Los Angeles and beyond. 

Position Summary

The Digital Learning Project Lead will lead the project management of a high-priority, grant-funded digital initiative that explores themes of religion and spirituality in historical and contemporary terms through a cross-institutional lens. This role is responsible for coordinating deliverables, maintaining timelines, and ensuring collaboration across departments and with external partners. Designed to expand public understanding and academic engagement, the initiative includes the development of digital learning modules and interpretive content to be distributed via a custom-built website, Canvas Commons, and other platforms. The Project Lead will work closely with an external developer and a cross-divisional team and report directly to the Director of Education & Interpretation.

Salary & Compensation

*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in project management preferably in a museum, academic, or nonprofit setting. (Required)
  • Familiarity with themes related to religion, spirituality, and cultural studies, and experience working with sensitive or complex topics. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage multiple deadlines with precision. (Required)
  • Experience managing grant-funded digital initiatives or multi-stakeholder collaborations. (Required)
  • Experience developing or overseeing content for educational websites or digital learning platforms. (Required)
  • Strong proficiency with digital collaboration and project management platforms such as Notion, Descript, Trello, or Asana. (Required)
  • Experience working with Canvas Commons or other learning management systems. (Required)
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in problem-solving. (Required)
  • Familiarity with digital humanities, user-centered design, and accessibility standards (Required)
  • Background in religious studies, education, museum studies, public humanities, or a related field. (Preferred)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)
