The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $71,600 to $97,224/year. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. Brief Summary of Job Duties:
The Accessible Course Design Specialist leads campus efforts to promote accessible digital learning environments through training, consultation, and instructional design support. This role coordinates and delivers faculty and TA training on accessibility and Universal Design for Learning (UDL), develops and maintains instructional resources, and provides expert guidance on designing accessible courses in Canvas and related instructional tools. The position works closely with faculty, teaching assistants, and campus partners to remediate non-accessible course content, ensure accurate implementation of testing accommodations, and encourage the adoption of accessible teaching practices. Responsibilities include developing training materials and multimedia resources, maintaining documentation and toolkits, consulting on effective use of technology to enhance inclusive instruction, and supporting course review and remediation processes. The Specialist also gathers and analyzes data to monitor accessibility compliance, assess training effectiveness, and identify trends and opportunities for improvement. This position represents UCSB in UC-wide instructional design and accessibility groups, contributing to systemwide initiatives that advance accessibility, inclusivity, and innovation in teaching and learning.
