Job Description:

Summary:

The Education and Community Engagement (ECE) Manager, reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Inclusive Leadership and Learning, is responsible for developing and overseeing programs that support the critical compliance, education, and community needs of the campus. The ECE Manager will develop education, training, and initiatives aligned with reporting, campus climate trends, and legal and compliance requirements for the work of the Office of Inclusive Excellence and all its units (including Equity and Title IX), specifically policies associated in the Office of Inclusive Excellence.

The ECE Manager position is designed to develop meaningful connections within the community, through the designing of educational initiatives, facilitating community outreach, building partnerships, and evaluating the impact of engagement activities to achieve broader campus goals.

The position, serving as a bridge between the institution and the community, also coordinates and oversees the Climate Action Response Team.

Essential Functions:

Program Development

  • Develops, manages, and implements training focused on educating students, staff and faculty about the University’s policies and processes regarding discrimination, harassment and sexual misconduct to ensure compliance with federal and local laws. Includes training on the functions and services of the Office of Inclusive Excellence. Works collaboratively with other units delivering training, as appropriate.
  • Designs and implements educational programs aligned with the organization’s mission, catering to diverse community and demographics, utilizing trends and needs (climate and compliance) identified through the efforts of the Office of Inclusive Excellence.
  • Fulfills requests for training and tracks delivery. Manages program logistics, including scheduling, venue selection, and resource allocation.
  • Manages the implementation of the University’s online training on discrimination, harassment and sexual misconduct.
  • Work with the vendors and internal partners to ensure online training incorporates relevant information for the specific audience. Track the delivery of online training to identified community members.
  • Provides leadership, supervision, and professional development for the Student Ambassador team, ensuring they are trained and equipped to support the Office of Inclusive Excellence’s educational initiatives.
  • Engages Student Ambassadors in program delivery by assigning roles in outreach, facilitation, and campus-wide engagement efforts to broaden the reach and impact of educational programming.

Coordinating and Addressing Campus Climate Issues

  • Coordinates and directly oversees the Climate Action Response Team, a cross-campus action-focused network that co-creates pathways forward to support campus climate through healing, trust-building, and learning.
  • Directly respond to and coordinate all elements of climate action response processing, ensuring responsiveness and outlining restorative practices informed measures.
  • Creates curriculum materials and workshop content for various constituents (students, faculty, and staff) and campus needs and national trends.
  • Works closely with units within OIE to integrate education and training reflective of engagement strategies into broader institutional initiatives.
  • Coordinates with marketing and communications teams to promote programs and events to the wider community.

Community Engagement

  • Identifies and builds relationships with campus members, organizations, and groups to foster partnerships and collaborations.
  • Plans and executes community engagement events, workshops, and forums to gather feedback and promote program participation and comprehension.
  • Utilizes various communication channels (social media, newsletters, website) to disseminate information about programs and initiatives.

Evaluation and Reporting

  • Tracks program metrics and collects data to assess the effectiveness of education and community engagement efforts.
  • Analyzes data to identify areas for improvement and make informed program adjustments.
  • Prepares reports on program impact for internal constituents while aligning with institutional mission.
  • Supports the Inclusive Excellence team on committee involvement and office projects.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • The ECE Manager may supervise 1 – 2 student and staff employees.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Full-Time.
  • 35 hours per week.
  • Hybrid 1 work modality (on campus 3 – 4 days per week).

Salary Range:

  • $90,000 – $95,000 annually.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 3 – 5 years of related experience developing and delivering training related to federal and local discrimination laws and related regulations, such as Title VI, Title IX, ADA and the ADEA, as well as VAWA.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent.
  • 2 – 4 years of relevant experience.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Current and working knowledge sufficient to develop and deliver compliance training related to issues, including but not limited to Title VII, Title VI, Title IX, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), ADEA, Campus SaVE Act and other federal and local laws related to discrimination, harassment and sexual misconduct.
  • Demonstrated interest in nondiscrimination compliance and related issues and comfort with discussing compliance with civil rights laws.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver impactful compliance-related training programs, including written materials and resources, to large and diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Familiarity with online training programs related to discrimination, harassment and sexual misconduct and the delivery of those programs within institutions.
  • Must be comfortable with technology, including maintaining content on websites and identifying and vetting online training programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
