Position Purpose

The Curriculum Designer and Developer is responsible for the strategic design and development of comprehensive curriculum frameworks that integrate higher education learning objectives, course outcomes, and assessment measures, ensuring alignment with institutional goals, accreditation standards, and student success. This role collaborates closely with leadership and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to define learning outcomes, structure educational content, and ensure curriculum effectiveness and scalability. The position also partners with the Instructional Training Content Developer to ensure the “what” of the curriculum effectively complements the “how” of instruction.

Job Functions, Duties And Responsibilities

Curriculum Design and Development:

  • Collaborate with leadership and faculty to define curriculum goals, objectives, and learning outcomes that align with the institutional mission, strategic plans, and accreditation requirements.
  • Design and develop both written and visual curriculum frameworks, course sequences, program structures, and learning pathways, while also supporting visual branding needs to ensure consistency, clarity, and alignment with educational standards and best practices.
  • Work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gather and synthesize content, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and currency of curriculum materials.
  •  Develop curriculum and assessments that are accessible, engaging, and inclusive, meeting the diverse needs of learners.

Collaboration and Alignment:

  • Partner with the Training Content Developer and other cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of curriculum content with instructional strategies and delivery methods.
  • Collaborate with leadership and stakeholders across departments to ensure curriculum alignment with program goals and student learning outcomes.

Curriculum Management and Improvement:

  • Maintain and update curriculum documentation, ensuring accuracy and accessibility of all materials.
  • Evaluate and revise curriculum based on student feedback, assessment data, and developments in the field, incorporating innovative teaching and learning strategies.
  • Stay current on trends and best practices in curriculum design, higher education, and relevant disciplines.
  • Contribute to the development of curriculum policies, procedures, and quality standards.

They demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills and are adept at working with diverse stakeholders to develop and implement an effective, student-centered curriculum.

Education

  • Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Design, or a related field required.

Experience/Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in curriculum design and development in higher education.
  • Demonstrated experience designing curriculum frameworks (program structures, course sequences, learning outcomes).
  • Expert in curriculum management system design, with specialized experience in Canvas LMS and strong proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Proficiency in creating graphics, layouts, and other visual elements that complement written content and support diverse adult learning styles.
  • Strong understanding of learning theories, instructional design models, assessment strategies, and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to design curriculum content that is clear, relevant, and accessible for diverse learners.
  • Communicate effectively across audiences and work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators to achieve program goals.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines, using data and problem-solving skills to drive curriculum decisions and support continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and contribute to team solutions during transitions.

  • Monday – Friday 9am-5pm
  • Some travel or extended hours may be required to support business initiatives
