Salary Range: $40,303.00 – $52,004.00 annually. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is Non-Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

Summary

The Curriculum Management Specialist performs tasks related to academic course scheduling, academic catalog maintenance, ad hoc academic classroom scheduling, and coordination of faculty portal and instructor/advisor access to the student information system. This position will also perform tasks related to the annual review of program/degree requirements.

Essential Functions

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: 

Oversight & Process Implementation (50%)

  • Serve as contact for academic colleges, campus departments, and campus committees regarding academic course scheduling activities. 
  • Process three course schedules annually including the adding, canceling, and updating of course sections in adherence with the term course schedule production calendar and applicable campus policies. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. 
  • Process ad hoc scheduling assignments of academic classrooms for campus events. 
  • Strong commitment to service excellence and diversity. 
  • Maintain course inventory catalog in the student information system. 
  • Ability to organize tasks, resolve problems, balance multiple responsibilities, set priorities, and meet deadlines. 
  • Provide training assistance and support to academic departments, course schedulers, catalog editors, and Event and Conference services. 
  • Collaborate with academic colleges, departments, and committees to maintain information for the online Academic Catalog.
  • Coordinate with the Degree Audit team to review and update the Academic Catalog’s Program Pages as part of an annual review of degree and course requirements.

Strategic Initiatives (30%)

  • Ensure the enforcement of requisites by assigning enrollment requirements and enrollment requirement groups. 
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with administrative staff, deans, department chairs, and faculty to support curriculum management. 
  • Ability to think critically to identify issues and provide recommendations for improvement. 
  • Ability to engage with and deliver services to individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds efficiently and effectively. 
  • Communicate curriculum management policy to campus constituents. 
  • Process assignment of classrooms for courses on the Colorado Springs campus by applying rules for priority room assignments and ensuring compliance with state fire regulations for seating capacities. 
  • Support Registrar initiatives by producing the highest level of continuous process improvement, documentation, and compliance standards within the Curriculum Management team. 
  • Ability to suggest improvements and enhancements on the academic catalog pages. 

Tech Support (20%)

  • Ability to work with various technologies/information systems/computer programs including a student information system, MS Office Suite, Adobe products, College Source uAchieve degree audit software, etc. 
  • Strong attention to detail as demonstrated through the accurate interpretation of documents and the input of the information into a database. 
  • Audit each course catalog entry to validate the correctness of course attributes. 
  • Basic knowledge related to room scheduling software (25Live) and the academic catalog software (Modern Campus).

Qualifications

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required
  • Experience learning and applying new skills related to academic scheduling (academic, event, customer appointments, etc.) to higher education curriculum management is required. 
  • Experience learning and applying new skills related to degree audit requirements review and updates is required. 
  • Experience working with various technologies/information systems/computer programs including a student information system, MS Office Suite, Adobe products, etc. is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with students, staff, and faculty within a higher education setting is highly desirable.
