Role Title: Director, Learning & Development (Full-time)

Position Reports To:  Sarah Martin, Vice President of Regional Impact

Application Deadline: Applications are due by 11:59 ET on Wednesday, September 10, 2025

Location: New York, New York

What You’ll Do

As a Director of Learning & Development for the New York regional team, you will primarily be responsible for the strategy, design, and execution of our major group learning events for our 400+ person teaching corps, including professional development for our first- and second-year corps members (our language for teachers), and our summer intensive training called practicum.  This includes working closely with our coaching team to set learning objectives for each event, grounded in our arc of corps member learning, and collaborating with coaches to then design the sessions that meet those goals.

You will laterally manage our team to execute the events throughout the year, including direct management of seasonal operational staff in the summer who will lead operations at each practicum school partner site.  Your events will improve the corps member experience to help continue to foster community across our network while also deepening our corps members’ abilities as teacher leaders.  You are organized, detail- and system-oriented, excelling at executing complex projects and managing others to outcomes.

The ideal candidate for this role will value and enjoy the challenge of creating learning experiences for adult learners while working across a large and complex team.  You will enjoy anticipating problems, excel at working collaboratively with teammates while leading with purpose and vision, and bring empathy and care to our programming as we support corps members in their learning and professional development.

Transformational leadership in New York has led to significant progress – fourth graders in our city are performing a full grade-level higher than a decade ago, and the high school graduation rate has increased for ten consecutive years. Teach For America is a significant source of leadership working to make these changes. Approximately 500 corps members and 6,000 alumni call the city home, as well as the many staff members who work from our national headquarters in Manhattan.

This role is a part of the Regional Impact team, which partners closely with the Connecticut-NYC Program Hub to ensure coherence across the corps member experience in New York.
