Job Summary

Columbus State Universitys Continuing & Professional Education (CPE) division is expanding its in-house online course capacity and seeks a part-time eLearning Developer to support course production. This role focuses on converting existing content into structured, engaging online learning experiences using Articulate 360, Vyond, and D2L Brightspace.

This is a hands-on, production-focused role. The eLearning Developer will build and publish courses, support collaborative team and SMEs curricular designs, and apply established templates and workflows to ensure consistency and quality across offerings.

We welcome early-career candidates who have foundational experience and are eager to build real-world course development skills in a fast-paced, applied environment.

Responsibilities

Course Development & Build (60%)

  • Convert materials (PowerPoints, documents, outlines, recordings, etc.) into structured online modules;
  • Build courses using standardized templates and formats; 
  • Develop interactive elements and assessments using available LXD tools;
  • Break down content into clear, digestible sections for online delivery; 
  • Publish courses using appropriate LMS settings and confirm functionality. 

Quality Assurance & Support (20%)

  • Apply course templates and design standards consistently; 
  • Conduct self-quality checks for navigation, functionality, and usability;
  • Ensure content aligns with accessibility best practices for online learning; 
  • Troubleshoot basic LMS questions for instructors/students.

Collaboration (15%)

  • Work with team and subject-matter experts to organize and structure course content;
  • Translate complex or unstructured material into clear, learner-friendly formats; 
  • Incorporate feedback while maintaining course structure and consistency.

Workflow & Communication (5%)

  • Track progress using project tools (e.g., MS365, Smartsheet, or similar); 
  • Communicate status updates and questions proactively; 
  • Participate in periodic check-ins with the supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent combination of relevant experience, coursework, or training; 
  • Experience building or contributing to at least one online course (academic, professional, or portfolio-based work accepted); 
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (D2L Brightspace, Canvas, Blackboard, or similar); 
  • Familiarity with LMS publishing (e.g., SCORM or similar) and accessibility best practices (can be developed on the job).

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with current LXD tools, such as Articulate 360, etc.;
  • Experience with LMS platforms (D2L Brightspace);
  • Experience with Vyond or similar video/animation tools;
  • Experience working with course programmers and subject-matter experts to create eLearning;
  • Experience in continuing education, workforce development, or professional training environments; 
  • Instructional design certificate or related coursework.

Proposed Salary

Salary range $20-28hr.

Conditions of Employment
