My team is seeking a skilled, project-based freelance writer to craft clear, engaging scripts for short video lessons as part of an upskilling-focused online course.
This role involves working closely with course producers and subject matter experts (SMEs), conducting independent research, and developing practical, learner-centered content that aligns with relevant best practices.
We’re a small team of course producers who love building great online learning experiences. We specialize in end-to-end course creation—from strategy and scripting to production, marketing, and operation. We value clear communication and collaborative problem-solving throughout various phases of fast-paced, learner-centered work.
Key Responsibilities
Write/edit short instructional video scripts (under 5 minutes each) based on SME interviews and supporting research.
Translate complex or technical material into clear, engaging, and pedagogically sound learning content.
Collaborate with course producers to align content with course objectives and tone.
Ensure content accuracy, flow, and learner engagement while following best practices in instructional writing.
Revise and refine scripts based on feedback from course producers and SMEs.
Project Timeline
This project is set to begin immediately and run through June, with exact dates TBD.

Required Skills and Experience
3+ years of experience writing for online learning, e-learning courses, or instructional media.
Strong technical writing or scriptwriting skills with the ability to simplify complex topics for diverse learners.
Familiarity with the course design process, from concept to delivery.
Understanding of media production workflows and how writing fits into the video creation process.
Proven ability to write from SME input, interview transcripts, and independent research.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
Familiarity with collaboration tools including Google Docs/Slides/Sheets, Slack, and Trello.
Bonus Qualifications
Experience working on upskilling, professional development, or technical training content.
Background in instructional design, adult learning theory, or curriculum development.
Understanding of popular social media content trends.
Experience with Kajabi.
Compensation
Project-based rate, with exact compensation based on experience and scope.
