Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking an Instructional Design Specialist to work as part of an instructional technology team dedicated to advancing and supporting the mission and strategic goals of the School of Nursing. The role involves collaborating with faculty and staff to prepare, upload, and configure course content for distance-accessible courses using the UAB Learning Management System (LMS) and emerging technologies. The individual will provide support through consultations, group training, and quick assistance, ensuring alignment with SON and UAB policies and procedures. This position reports to the Director of Instructional Technology and the Associate Dean for Technology and Innovation. This position is not a remote position.
Responsibilities:
Annual Salary: $50,050.00 – $81,330.00
Qualifications
Additionally, at least one year of experience working with a learning management platform, preferably Canvas by Instructure, is preferred. The individual must have proficiency in course and file management, strong organizational and time management skills, and be detail-oriented and capable of working as an application specialist. The individual should be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, be self-directed and efficient in accomplishing tasks and responsibilities, and possess excellent interpersonal and writing skills for effective communication with team members, faculty, and students. Adherence to all FERPA guidelines and maintaining confidentiality is required. Additionally, the individual should have a demonstrated broad knowledge of instructional technology tools and their application in teaching and learning.
