The International Transportation Learning Center (ITLC), founded in 2001, is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to advancing public transit and other transportation sectors at the national level and within communities. To accomplish this mission, ITLC builds partnerships between labor and management that improve organizational capacity and expand worker skills and career opportunities.

ITLC is seeking a select group of instructional designers (IDs) to work as independent contractors on a full- to part-time basis on a number of technical instructional design projects. The IDs will be responsible for tasks including some mix of the following: developing courses from beginning to end, identifying and solidifying learning objectives, facilitating Subject Matter Expert (SME) meetings and supporting pilots. All work will be reliant on using proven ID frameworks.

This consulting engagement may require the instructional designer to work on an occasional basis at on-site SME meetings, usually lasting up to 3 days. Additional work may include pre and post SME meeting design functions to assist in the curriculum development process. The Instructional Designer will be asked to:

  • Facilitate the process of developing curriculum working with SME teams, consultants and associated ITLC team members.
  • Perform necessary analysis and evaluation functions in support of curriculum development and reporting requirements as requested by ITLC’s ID team.
  • Provide information and support for grant reporting.

The number of work hours available will vary as the workload increases through the life of a project.
