Job Description

A Glimpse of the Job

The Instructional Designer II plays a key role in designing and enhancing hybrid and online courses, collaborating with faculty and staff to elevate teaching and learning experiences. This position plans, develops, and facilitates training focused on instructional design, adult learning principles, emerging educational technologies, and evidence‑based best practices. The role also provides leadership on complex projects, ensuring high‑quality outcomes and continuous improvement across instructional initiatives.

Opportunities to Contribute

Course Design and Development

  • Collaborates with instructors and subject matter experts (SMEs) to design and develop online, blended, and web-enhanced courses.
  • Consults and supports faculty and/or staff with instructional design.
  • Leads and oversees course design and development projects.
    Administers and maintains online development courses/resources.
  • Plans and coordinates materials with course instructors, instructional design team, IT, and multimedia team.
  • Identifies and recommends the use of instructional strategies, technologies, and applications.

Faculty Support and Training

  • Leads faculty and/or staff through the design process and makes key recommendations for design.
  • Plans, develops, and delivers faculty and/or staff training on instructional strategies and course design.
  • Researches and reviews emerging instructional design innovations and trends.

Course Review and Quality Assurance

  • Review the course modules and mediate the course files to be accessible and meet ADA needs
  • Leads the course review process and make suggestions for improvement.

Additional Coordination and Administrative Support

What You Need to Know

Salary: $55,000 – $60,000/annually

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters in Curricular Design or related Experience working with students or faculty
    Experience with Learning Management Systems i.e. Canvas

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of online course design principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems and instructional technologies.
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
  • Knowledge and ability to implement accessibility on digital content.
