Lead Learning & Development Specialist

Location: Denver, CO or Houston, TX (Houston preferred for field travel) 

Overview 

bpx energy is seeking a Lead Learning & Development Specialist to deliver engaging, field-focused learning and competency programs that strengthen culture, safety, and workforce capability. This role is highly facilitation-driven and works directly with field leaders and technical experts to translate operational and technical expectations into practical learning experiences. 

This position owns facilitation of foundational learning experiences and plays a key role in competency development across operations, with regular travel to field locations. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Own and facilitate foundational learning experiences focused on culture, safety, and risk management 
  • Serve as a primary facilitator in the field, partnering with leaders across operating basins 
  • Travel regularly to deliver training, moderate discussions, and support workforce development 
  • Collaborate with technical SMEs to translate operational and engineering requirements into competency frameworks and development roadmaps 
  • Facilitate competency and role-based working sessions to support job profiles, career pathways, and progression 
  • Support execution of learning and competency initiatives with emphasis on delivery and engagement rather than administration

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required 
  • Experience in technical learning, safety, operations, or engineering within oil & gas or a similar industrial environment 
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with field and office-based audiences 
  • Experience supporting competency development, skill mapping, or workforce capability initiatives 
  • Comfortable translating technical concepts into accessible learning and development tools 
  • Willingness to travel regularly to field locations 

Ideal Candidate Profile 

This role is ideal for a mid-level individual contributor with strong people skills who enjoys working directly with the field. Candidates may come from operations, safety, engineering, or learning backgrounds, including field operators or earlier-career engineers interested in expanding their impact. 

How do we pay (Base)? $125,000 – $175,000 

Note: The pay range listed for this position is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.
