Position Description:

The Learning Experience Designer III drives meaningful change by consulting with business units to understand the root cause, craft targeted learning outcomes, and apply adult learning principles to create change. They design and develop learning modules, courses, resources, and departmental-level, organizational-level, or large-scale curriculums and programs used to address business needs and promote company initiatives focusing on culture, brand advocacy, compliance, technology, job skills, and leadership development. This individual will use innovative instructional design methods to develop learning experiences that increase competence, confidence, and advocacy.

Essential Duties And Tasks (up to five): 

Learning Content Consultation, Design & Development

  • Consult with business partners typically up to the VP/Executive level to discover root cause of performance or learning gaps, identify learning outcomes to close those gaps, identify how success is measured, and recommend learning solutions.
  • Create storyboards and design learning content typically for the departmental level, organizational level, or large-scale curriculums incorporating adult learning principles, theories, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather content and ensure accuracy.
  • Develop innovative and interactive learning solutions that achieve identified learning outcomes in instructor-led, online self-paced, and blended formats.
  • Develop programs and curriculums to address business needs, address performance gaps, and achieve strategic business goals and initiatives.
  • Review and iterate learning experiences based on feedback and results to improve performance outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal team members on projects and programs.
  • Mentor and coach L&D team members throughout collaborative projects

Multimedia Creation & Integration

  • Utilize tools and software to create multimedia content such as audio, video, graphics, and interactive video content.
  • Develop complex activities, branching scenarios, simulations, and games using appropriate tools.
  • Create web pages and resources utilizing WordPress or similar tools.
  • Incorporate visual design theories and best practices into projects

Research & Implementation of Learning Solutions

  • Conduct research to understand the learners.
  • Conduct research to gather new and supplemental content.
  • Conduct Train-the-Trainer sessions with facilitators as appropriate so that others can deliver the content effectively and as designed.
  • Partner with the L&D and HRIS teams to deploy and upkeep learning solutions in the Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Assist in evaluating learning solutions through surveys, facilitation of feedback sessions, focus groups, etc.
  • Analyze data and learning evaluations to identify areas of opportunity and improvements in learning content.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of new design processes.
  • Assist in the integration of technology and new tools.
  • Keep up to date with trends and advancements in learning & development and innovate new learning approaches or methods based on industry research

Project Management

  • Create a project plan for large projects outlining project milestones and deadlines and assigning work as appropriate
  • Own the project lifecycle from discovery to deployment
  • Update and communicate project status
  • Partner with internal team members and clients to drive projects forward.

Education And/Or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education, psychology, instructional design or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in instructional design, training, education, or similar role
  • Experience developing effective, innovative, and interactive training

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expert experience developing effective, innovative, and scenario-based eLearning using development applications such as Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, etc.
  • Demonstrated expert experience developing effective, innovative, and interactive instructor-led training and/or workshops
  • Advanced experience designing and developing learning programs and curriculums that include a variety of learning materials and modalities
  • Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative products (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere)
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and virtual team software such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom
  • Intermediate proficiency with video and audio editing software such as PowToon or Vyond
  • Experience designing accessible learning materials that are Section 508 compliant
  • Expertise in adult learning theory
  • Expertise in conducting learning needs and root cause analysis
  • Expertise in evaluating training effectiveness
  • Experience preparing content for and publishing to an LMS
  • Proficiency with web and app development using HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, WordPress, Unity, etc. preferred
