Position Summary: 

The Learning Experience Designer (LXD) is a key member of the MannKind Commercial Training and Development team and is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality digital learning for Afrezza, Furoscix, and future MannKind assets. This role creates scalable e-learning that reduces the need for live training, accelerates field readiness, and ensures consistency across product launches and indications.

The LXD partners closely with Product Training Leads, Marketing, Medical, Sales Leadership, and the MLR review team to build compliant, engaging, and scientifically accurate digital training. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in pharmaceutical learning and development, including creation of SCORM-compliant modules, clinical content conversion into interactive learning, and direct experience preparing materials for MLR approval.

This role reports to the Director of Commercial Training and plays an important part in shaping MannKind’s future digital learning ecosystem, including e-learning, assessments, AI coaching, and the LMS.

Key Responsibilities:

Digital Learning Design And Development 

  • Design and develop interactive e-learning modules, microlearning, and scenario-based simulations for multiple products and indications.
  • Convert PI content, dosing guidance, safety information, and clinical study data into intuitive, engaging learning experiences.
  • Build reusable templates (PI module templates, dosing templates, objection-handling templates, competitor comparison templates) to standardize the learning experience across products.
  • Develop SCORM-compliant courses and ensure compatibility with the LMS and QSTREAM.
  • Write clear, concise scripts and storyboards for multimedia content, including voiceover, video, and animations.
  • Produce high-quality digital learning assets using modern authoring tools such as Articulate 360 (Rise, Storyline), Captivate, or similar.

MLR / PRC Review Process Support 

  • Prepare digital learning materials for MLR submission in alignment with FDA guidance and internal policies.
  • Ensure all content is consistent-with-label and includes appropriate PI references.
  • Partner with Product Training Leads to resolve MLR feedback and update content promptly.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and version control for all training assets submitted to MLR.

Content Development And Project Management 

  • Work with subject matter experts across Marketing, Medical, and Sales to gather source content and convert it into instructionally sound digital experiences.
  • Lead development of onboarding pathways, product learning paths, and annual certification modules in the LMS.
  • Organize project timelines, milestones, and dependencies with minimal oversight.
  • Manage multiple concurrent training projects in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Support the build-out of pediatric launch training, new indications, and future portfolio expansion.

AI Training Integration

  • In partnership with our AI Coaching platform vendor, design prompts, scripts, decision trees, and competency frameworks used in AI coaching scenarios. 
  • Convert real clinical and field scenarios into structured AI role-play simulations.
  • Identify opportunities to shift live role-play into digital practice environments.

Qstream Content Development

  • Build and maintain Qstream knowledge assessments.
  • Apply spaced learning principles to ensure retention and real-world application.

Digital Content Quality and Brand Consistency

  • Ensure that all training materials adhere to MannKind branding, tone, and quality standards.
  • Create visual layouts, infographics, diagrams, and icons that simplify complex clinical concepts.
  • Maintain a central library of reusable digital assets.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Collaborate with Product Training Leads to support Afrezza, Furoscix, and all future product training.
  • Coordinate with Marketing and Medical Affairs to verify scientific accuracy and approved claims.
  • Maintain strong relationships with Sales Leadership to ensure content is relevant and behavior-driven.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years experience in instructional design, e-learning development, or digital learning roles.
  • 2+ years in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device industry.
  • Demonstrated experience authoring SCORM-compliant e-learning using Articulate Storyline, Rise, Captivate, or similar tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of and experience working within the Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR/PRC) approval process.
  • Experience designing learning for PI content, dosing information, safety data, clinical trials, or competitive profiles.
  • Ability to convert clinical and technical information into engaging, accurate, and compliant learning modules.
  • Working knowledge of adult learning theory, microlearning, spaced repetition, and scenario-based instruction.
  • Strong writing and visual communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail, especially when dealing with clinical data and regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing learning for sales reps, key account managers, or reimbursement teams.
  • Experience working with Qstream or other spaced-learning platforms.
  • Experience building content for AI coaching or virtual role-play tools.
  • Familiarity with diabetes, endocrinology, cardiology, nephrology or institutional care pathways.
  • Understanding of FDA guidance on promotional and non-promotional communication (for training accuracy).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Instructional Design or Educational Technology.
