About the Job

The Learning Portfolio Manager (LPM) acts as the strategic architect and primary liaison between Red Hat’s global business units and the Product and Technical Learning (PTL) organization. You will be responsible for driving the “What” and the “Why” of our learning offerings—ensuring that our training, certifications, and credentials align perfectly with business goals and customer needs.

As an LPM, you don’t just manage a list of courses; you manage the learning journeys that develop the right skills for each learner.  You will build high-trust relationships with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to translate complex technical requirements into a cohesive roadmap for associates, partners, and customers.

What You Will Do

Strategic Liaison & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the central point of contact between PTL and various stakeholder groups (Engineering, Sales, Ecosystem, Product Business Units, etc.).
  • Advocacy: Drive stakeholder awareness of the learning portfolio and champion the value of enablement programs.
  • Collaboration: Foster an environment of innovative thinking by facilitating workshops and planning sessions between development teams and SMEs.

Portfolio Strategy & Lifecycle Management

  • Learning Journeys: Determine the balance of courses, assessments, and certification exams required to meet technical competency goals.
  • Lifecycle Oversight: Manage the “Plan-Build-Run-Retire” lifecycle for all learning assets within your assigned portfolio.
  • Market and Business Alignment: Continuously evaluate the portfolio against industry trends and stakeholder feedback to decide what to add, update, or sunset.
  • Effective Promotion Influence: Seek aligned channels to promote (using influence)  PTL learning assets across stakeholder groups to drive awareness and consumption

Prioritization & Delivery Guidance

  • Roadmap Development: Prioritize development efforts based on business impact, resource availability, and technical urgency.
  • Execution: Guide the transition from “idea” to “development,” ensuring SMEs and content creators are aligned on the learning objectives and target audience.

What You Will Bring

  • Experience: 5+ years in Learning & Development (L&D), Product Management, or Technical Program Management
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to see the “big picture”, synthesize diverse (and often conflicting) stakeholder requirements into a unified strategy that aligns with Red Hat’s business strategy
  • Relationship Management:  Strong interpersonal skills to navigate  complex, multi-stakeholder environments;  ability to drive ongoing communication, requirements gathering, and cross-functional collaboration across stakeholder groups for the entire portfolio; exceptional ability to influence without authority;  delivering results through a collaborative approach
  • Data Analysis: Ability to analyze consumption and effectiveness metrics to tie performance to business outcomes and prioritization conversations
  • Product Knowledge: Maintain a “finger on the pulse” for product categories across Low Touch and High Touch categories
  • Technical Familiarity: Understanding of Tech Level 1, 2, and 3 project requirements and review cycles and Red Hat’s products or the open-source software landscape is a significant plus
  • Communication: Strong skills in promotion and communication efforts
