Job Summary

Summary

The Manager of training and education for the department of social work will be responsible for developing and implementing education and training programs for clinical social workers and social work students. The manager will work closely with social work leadership, other training directors, and clinical directors to ensure that social workers and trainees are meeting the educational objectives and requirements outlined by the training program. The manager of training and education will also be responsible for providing supervision and oversight to trainees and clinical supervisors as necessary. The manager of training and education will also work with social work leadership to establish training and education opportunities across the hospital and ensure that the trainings are aligned with the department’s mission and values.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and manage enterprise-wide learning initiatives, including onboarding, continuing education, competency programs, leadership development, and certification support
  • Collaborate with department leaders to assess training needs and identify opportunities for workforce development and clinical skill advancement
  • Design and deliver engaging, evidence-based education using a variety of formats (e.g., instructor-led, e-learning, simulations, and workshops)
  • Evaluate program effectiveness through performance metrics, feedback, and outcomes; make continuous improvements based on data
  • Supervise and support education staff, clinical educators, and preceptors in carrying out teaching responsibilities
  • Ensure that education and training programs meet regulatory, accrediting, and licensure requirements
  • Oversee the Learning Management System (LMS) and ensure timely documentation of required training and compliance-related education
  • Champion professional development pathways and career progression programs for both clinical and non-clinical staff
  • Serve as a liaison between the organization and external educational partners, vendors, and professional organizations.

Master’s Degree Clinical Social Work required

Licenses and Credentials
Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker [LICSW – State License] – Generic – HR Only required

Experience

  • Experience in Education, clinical training, or organizational development withing a healthcare or corporate setting 5-7 years required and Experience in a supervisory or management role 2-3 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Expertise in adult learning principles, instructional design, and competency assessment.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional projects and work collaboratively across departments.
  • Proficiency in using Learning Management Systems (LMS), Microsoft Office, and presentation tools.
  • Knowledge of clinical workflows, healthcare operations, and/or HR development practices.
  • High level of organization, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
