The Mark Cuban Foundation’s AI Bootcamps host free introductory Artificial Intelligence Bootcamps for underserved high school students and programming for teachers to increase awareness and understanding of AI concepts. Founded by Mark Cuban in 2019, the AI Bootcamps have partnered with organizations across the U.S. to teach AI fundamentals to students who typically would not have access to technology education.

Position Description:
As the Instructional Designer for the Mark Cuban Foundation, you will play a key role in shaping engaging, accessible, and cutting-edge educational experiences that empower high school students and teachers to explore artificial intelligence. Working closely with staff, subject matter experts, and education professionals, you’ll lead the design and iteration of learning experiences, activity guides, curriculum, volunteer training, and engaging content across multiple delivery formats to both high school students and teachers.

This full-time salaried position reports to the Chief Learning Officer and includes a benefits package with health insurance, holidays, PTO, and 401k. The position is hybrid, offering remote flexibility with regular in-office collaboration at our Dallas office.

Instructional Designer Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and refine AI curriculum materials for high school students in collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Apply evidence-based instructional design frameworks (e.g., UDL, constructionism, project-based learning) to ensure content is inclusive, effective, and relevant.
  • Develop facilitator and volunteer training modules using best practices in adult learning and asynchronous delivery.
  • Evaluate curriculum efficacy through feedback loops, user testing, and pilot implementations.
  • Collaborate with students and educators to ensure materials are engaging and age-appropriate, prioritizing exploration and meaningful connection to real-world ideas.
  • Support content integration within LMS platforms and oversee formatting and accessibility standards.
  • Maintain version control of curriculum and training materials, incorporating feedback and industry trends.
  • Translate complex AI topics into approachable, hands-on learning experiences tailored to student interests and real-world applications.
  • Collaborate with the Partnerships and Student Experience teams to align curricular resources with broader program goals.
  • Support curriculum-related marketing and outreach efforts, including developing visuals and presentations.
  • Utilize AI technologies to enhance content development and streamline production workflows.
  • Occasionally give virtual or in-person presentations and lead activities for teachers or high school students.
  • Co-create a culture that is positive, supportive, and focused on quality deliverables. We value continuous learning and mission-driven excellence. Our team is highly collaborative and uses iterative design strategies, so you should feel comfortable giving and receiving regular constructive feedback and taking part in ideation sessions.
  • Cheerfully take on other duties as assigned.

Qualified Applicants Will Have:

  • A Bachelor’s or higher in Instructional Design, High School Education, Informal Education, Adult Education, Learning Sciences, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching high school students, either in a classroom or in an informal setting such as a camp or museum.
  • Experience leading adult education initiatives, such as a Professional Learning Network, Teacher Mentoring, Professional Development, or leadership within a subject-specific domain.
  • 1–5 years of experience in instructional design or curriculum development, preferably with high school, teacher education, or workforce development audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to turn technical content into creative, learner-centered experiences that focus on hands-on, engaged participation, including deployment in virtual environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adapt to evolving priorities.
  • Strong familiarity with AI, CTE or STEM education and a desire to make these topics accessible to all, particularly using current technologies.
  • Experience with digital authoring tools (e.g., LLMs, Canva) and collaborative workspaces (e.g., Google Workspace, Asana, Zoom, Slack).
  • Commitment to accessibility best practices and universal design, including UDL.
  • Focus on educational equity and a deep interest in providing technology education resources to students and teachers in traditionally underserved groups. Your passion for creating engaging experiences for students in varying contexts nationwide is essential.
  • A research background in learning, assessment, student identity, digital technologies, edtech, or design is a plus.
  • Creation with social media, video shorts, web/app development or AI tools is a plus.

A portfolio of resources is recommended for successful hiring. We will want to see how you’ve created and presented materials and how you’ve delivered learning experiences within the interview process. In your cover letter or introductory video, please share why you’re interested in working with our team and specifically how might create engaging experiences for teens and teachers that provide a spark of AI knowledge.

Candidates will only be considered who reside in TX, NC or CA. Employees primarily work remotely, with occasional in-person meetings in Dallas, TX. Travel for high profile events may be required a few times a year.
