Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Training Manager to lead the development, management, and delivery of training programs for our mortgage originations team. This role will oversee a team of 3–5 training professionals and work closely with sales, operations, and mortgage staff to ensure training initiatives align with business line priorities and performance objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of training specialists responsible for instructional design, facilitation, and training logistics.
  • Collaborate with business line leaders to identify training needs and align programs with strategic goals.
  • Oversee the creation and continuous improvement of training content for sales, operations, and mortgage staff.
  • Ensure training delivery methods (in-person, virtual, on-demand) are effective and scalable.
  • Monitor training effectiveness through performance metrics, feedback, and post-training assessments.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory and internal policy requirements in all training materials.
  • Manage training calendars, resource allocation, and reporting for training activities.
  • Foster a culture of learning and professional development across the originations team.

Required Qualifications

  • A combined minimum of 7 years’ higher education and/or work experience including a minimum of 3 years’ training or technical support work experience inclusive of at least 2 years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in mortgage operations or sales training, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage origination processes and regulatory environment.
  • Proven ability to manage teams and drive performance through training.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and project management skills.
  • Experience with LMS platforms and instructional design tools.

Preferred Skills

  • Certification in training or instructional design (e.g., CPTD, ATD).
  • Familiarity with Encompass, Blend, or other mortgage technology platforms.
  • Ability to analyze performance data and translate insights into training strategies.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $71,985.72 – $119,976.20 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.  The range listed above corresponds to our national pay range for this role. The specific pay range applicable to you may vary based on your location.
