What you can expect as our Online Course Developer

As our Online Course Developer, you will play a key role in creating high-quality, engaging online learning experiences. In this role, you will collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) across Perkins to design, develop, and deliver innovative online courses that align with organizational goals and reflect industry best practices.

You bring a passion for learning experience design, a creative mindset, and a strong grasp of modern educational technology tools and strategies. You continually assess and enhance courses to ensure instructional effectiveness, learner engagement, and measurable impact.

We’d love to talk with you if you have many of the following:

  • Design and develop interactive online courses using best practices in instructional design, adult learning theory, and multimedia learning.
  • Collaborate closely with Perkins educators, SMEs, and stakeholders to gather content, design curriculum, and ensure learning experiences are practical, accessible, and impactful.
  • Lead all aspects of multimedia development including video pre-production planning, storyboarding, and coordination with video production teams.
  • Apply cutting-edge educational technology and stay informed on emerging tools (including AI) to enhance learning and engagement.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure instructional materials meet organizational standards, are accessible, and deliver measurable learning outcomes.
  • Provide guidance and support to instructors and learners on effective use of course materials and learning technologies.
  • Manage end-to-end course development projects—set timelines, coordinate stakeholders, track milestones, and deliver on time and within scope.
  • Build, publish, maintain, and archive courses within our learning management system (LMS), while contributing to scalable, repeatable design processes.
  • Continuously assess and improve courses based on learner feedback and performance metrics.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Technologies, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience designing and developing online courses or instructional materials.
  • Strong grasp of instructional design models, adult learning theory, and learning experience (LX) design.
  • Proficiency in course authoring tools, multimedia software, LMS platforms, and instructional technologies (experience with AI tools is a plus).
  • Excellent project management and communication skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • A self-starter with a creative, problem-solving mindset and a strong attention to detail.
  • Technical fluency—you don’t need to code, but you’re a confident user who enjoys exploring new digital tools and systems.
  • Experience teaching in or designing for online environments, especially with a focus on accessibility or UI/UX, is a bonus.
