Pitt EDGE is the University of Pittsburgh’s central hub for digital education, housed within the Office of the Provost. Launched in Fall 2024, the inaugural Center advances the University’s strategic vision for online, hybrid, and continuing education by partnering with Pitt’s 16 schools to expand access and improve quality for diverse learners. Pitt EDGE supports the full lifecycle of digital learning through services such as instructional design, technology integration, market analysis, academic planning, recruitment, and quality assurance.

Job Summary

  • Consults with educators on the design, development, and delivery of complex instructional materials and the integration of instructional technologies. Helps lead the work and strategic planning of an instructional, curricula, or training development program within a university department/division.

Essential Functions 

  • Consults with faculty and subject matter experts on the design and development of instructional materials and the integration of instructional technologies for online and hybrid courses/programs.
  • Evaluates instructional needs to identify and align appropriate goals and objectives for the online and hybrid modality.
  • Leads instructional development teams and/or projects.
  • Develops curricula for instructional programs and integrates content using appropriate instructional technologies within the LMS.
  • Builds online and hybrid courses within the LMS.
  • Designs, develops, and edits text-based, audiovisual, and multimedia content for online and hybrid programs.
  • Assesses instructional delivery and effectiveness, recommends teaching methods, and implements instruction and curricula improvements for online and hybrid courses/programs.
  • Designs, develops, presents, and implements courses, curricula, training, and/or instructional programs. training programs related to online and hybrid pedagogy or technology.
  • Initiates and collaborates in the development of professional research studies and conference presentations.

Physical Effort 

  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and work with computing technology. This position involves extensive screen time.
