The Employee Experience and Relations (EXR) Learning Team is seeking a forward-thinking Senior Learning Experience Designer to develop and manage large-scale, innovative learning programs. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, changing environment and possesses a passion for learning and innovation, strong relationship-building skills, and an appetite for strategy, action, results, and continuous improvement.

Working across multiple instructional delivery modalities, you will create bar-raising learning experiences while serving as the voice of the learner. Your expertise in adult learning and instructional design strategies will drive performance-based outcomes. You should excel at managing multiple concurrent projects independently, iterating rapidly on designs based on feedback while meeting milestones and deadlines.

You will partner across the organization to build learning products in a high-growth organization on a global scale, helping to shape and execute strategy for new learning content development.

Key job responsibilities

  • Identify learning objectives, performance outcomes, and evaluative strategies to deliver instruction including consulting with program owners and subject matter experts to identify performance gaps and learning objectives
  • Lead projects through the design life cycle from scoping, research and analysis, design, development, launch, and evaluation providing clear timelines through all phases of development and selecting appropriate measurement for successful implementation
  • Communicate with key partners, including subject matter experts, key leadership, stakeholders, and end users
  • Direct and guide learning design for internal and/or external subject matter experts enlisted to produce and publish technical content
  • Manage the development of instructional materials that transform information into engaging instructional materials
  • Utilize instructional design frameworks and maintain consistency across training projects
  • Complete quality assurance measures and content audits for new and existing training

A work sample demonstrating your experience and skill using course authoring tools and ID theory will be required as part of the hiring process

About the team

The Employee Relations (ER) Learning team is a specialized team within Employee Experience and Relations (EXR) that equips leaders with essential knowledge and skills to navigate today’s dynamic workplace with confidence and empathy. We design and develop employee relations learning solutions for Operations and People Experience and Technology (PXT) leaders, focusing on strengthening leadership capabilities in workforce relations, regulatory compliance, and employee engagement strategies. Our core responsibilities include defining ER content strategy, designing learning experiences, and developing scalable training solutions. 

Basic Qualifications

  • 8 years in learning design, instructional design, learning science, educational psychology, or similar field
  • 5 years designing and developing advanced eLearning using tools such as Articulate, Adobe Creative Cloud, Synthesia, Captivate, or others
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory and its application to human performance
  • Experience working with subject matter experts and program stakeholders to design curriculum
  • Experience using measurement and data to drive learning interventions
  • Strong writing and editing expertise, with demonstrated ability to transform complex technical content into clear, learner-friendly materials while maintaining consistent voice and style across deliverables
  • Experience with administrative tasks in an LMS

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years designing online instructional activities to support adult learners
  • Experience using quantitative and/or qualitative research methods
  • Experience with AI-powered learning technologies and adaptive learning systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in creating inclusive and accessible learning experiences
  • Demonstrated ability to create compelling narratives and scenarios that enhance learner engagement and retention in training materials
  • Experience mentoring learning professionals
  • Demonstrated consistent delivery on commitments – great organizational skills with exceptional follow through and attention to detail
  • Able to prioritize in complex, fast-paced work environment
  • Innovative and proactive problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise integrity and sound judgment in complex and ambiguous situations
  • Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $124,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $215,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
