Job Description:

For the past five years, ASU’s Next Education Workforce Initiative has been working with school systems in Arizona – and now across the U.S. – to envision, design and launch team-based, strategic school staffing models. All told, Next Education Workforce has supported more than 150 schools across nearly 50 districts in 17 states to launch team-based staffing models. One of the key ways we work is through the execution of regional and state grants and partnerships. We are seeking a highly-skilled senior program manager to support the successful implementation and management of several new state- and regional-based partnerships.

As a key member of the Next Education Workforce team, the Senior Program Manager, Partner Success will work with colleagues and collaborators to: (1) manage the strategy and day-to-day implementation of a portfolio of grants and regional partnerships, (2) ensure all programmatic and financial grant/partnerships goals are met and reported on with accuracy and fidelity and (3) coordinate, manage, inspire, and build capacity in multiple people across multiple organizations to meet grant and regional partnership outcomes.

An ideal candidate for this position will have an extensive background in K-12 education, experience working with system- and school-level leaders, and experience supporting and managing large-scale projects and/or grants. Strong candidates will have excellent project management, verbal and written communication skills.

Above all, an ideal candidate will be someone who can comfortably navigate a fast-paced work environment, support multiple collaborators to plan and execute high-quality grants and projects, and interact with partner organizations and partner schools.

The person hired for this role will report to the Next Education Workforce Initiative’s Assistant Director of Partner Success. The ideal start date for this role is mid-May, 2025. This is a remote position with some travel required.
Essential Duties:

Manage the strategy and day-to-day implementation of a portfolio of grants and regional partnerships:

  • In collaboration with the Assistant Director, Partner Success, establish strategy for each partnership
  • Independently manage strategy and day-to-day implementation of partnerships to ensure all goals/outcomes are met or exceeded
  • Lead and facilitate necessary meetings for each partnership
  • Manage progress toward outcomes and continuously improve/adjust strategy as applicable
  • In collaboration with Assistant Director, Partner Success, establish clarity and direction in the face of new and/or ambiguous partnership challenges
  • As applicable, provide programmatic technical assistance for partnerships (e.g. coaching/consulting, professional learning facilitation, convening)

Ensure all programmatic and financial grant/partnerships goals are met and reported on with accuracy and fidelity:

  • Create, manage and execute comprehensive project plans, ensuring alignment with grant goals, scope, and deliverables
  • Serve as project manager for portfolio of partnerships
  • Maintain accurate and up to date budget tracker
  • Maintain accurate and up to date programmatic outcomes tracker
  • Serve as responsible party and lead author for all grant reporting requirements
  • Regularly report partnerships progress to the Assistant Director, Partner Success and Executive Team

Coordinate, manage, inspire, and build capacity in multiple people across multiple organizations to meet grant and regional partnership outcomes:

  • Establish clear roles and responsibilities for internal and external partners
  • Assess and build capacity of partners to carry out their roles and meet outcomes
  • Inspire partners by building momentum, communicating progress, and celebrating successes
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between internal and external partners including members of the Next Education Workforce team, other organizations within the college, and external partner organizations
  • As appropriate, partner closely with implementation coaches and others staffed on grants to provide grant schools and systems with high-quality professional learning

Contribute to the Partnerships Team and Next Education Workforce Initiative:

  • Support the work of other Partnerships Team members and ensure team goals are met each fiscal year
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Partnerships Team by helping to build new systems and structures to support the work of this new team

Contribute to overall success of the Next Education Workforce Initiative by contributing to team-wide goals and initiatives

Desired Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications AND advanced degree(s) in the field of education or a related field.

Experience leading in PK-12 education:

  • Experience leading in PK-12 environments in varied roles, ideally in learner-centered or innovative environments
  • Experience building and supporting networks of partners
  • Experience working to implement new programs or initiatives in PK-12 environments

Experience successfully managing grants and/or large projects:

  • Experience leading strategy and implementation of large-scale grants/projects
  • Experience managing to outcomes of grants/projects
  • Experience creating and executing on project plans for grant implementation
  • Thrives in start-up working environments with high levels of ambiguity

Experience collaborating with partners and building capacity:

  • Experience collaborating with internal and external partners and building capacity to implement work
  • Experience communicating and fostering collaboration between multiple partners
  • Experience using data to inform interactions with the partners

Experience successfully planning and managing multiple complex, concurrent projects:

  • Thrives in a working environment that prioritizes action, iteration and continual learning with a large, inclusive set of partners
  • Experience establishing clear priorities when managing multiple large workstreams with competing demands
  • Experience leading several large-scale, sometimes ambiguous, projects and seeing them through from initial conception to implementation and evaluation

Working Environment:

  • This position will be off-site as they meet and collaborate with school systems and partners across the country
  • Some activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
  • Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
  • Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
  • Evidence of effective communication

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
