National Grid is hiring a Senior Training Supervisor in Syracuse, NY

This position is in office, 5 days a week.  

Job Purpose

The Training Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the training and development of staff within the Customer Call Center. This role ensures that training programs are effectively implemented to enhance the skills and performance of employees, aligning with departmental and National Grid standards.

Key Accountabilities

  • Supervise Training Programs: Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of training programs to ensure they meet the needs of the team and the organization.
  • Coach and Mentor: Provide coaching and mentoring to trainers and staff to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Monitor Performance: Track and assess the progress of trainees, providing feedback and addressing any issues related to performance, attendance, or discipline.
  • Develop Training Materials: Create and update training materials, ensuring they are relevant, comprehensive, and aligned with industry standards.
  • Identify Training Needs: Conduct needs assessments to identify gaps in skills and knowledge and develop training plans to address these gaps.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure all training activities comply with National Grid policies, regulatory requirements, and health and safety standards.
  • Facilitate Workshops: Lead training workshops and seminars, fostering an engaging and productive learning environment.
  • Evaluate Effectiveness: Measure the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics, making improvements as needed.
  • Collaborate with Departments: Work closely with other departments to ensure training programs support overall business objectives and operational needs.
  • Maintain Records: Keep accurate records of training activities, attendance, and outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate degree or higher and three (3) years’ work experience OR five (5) plus years of relevant work experience 
  • Experience: At least 3+ years of experience in training and development, with a preference for experience leading a team.
  • Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with training methodologies, tools, and systems. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and emergency response procedures is a plus.
  • Attributes: Ability to motivate and inspire others, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Salary

$80,000 – $94,000 a year

Salary commensurate with location and experience

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
