Position: Training Director (Commercial and Medical Training)
The salary range for this position is between $220k and $235k.
Actual salary at the time of hire may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant qualifications, skills, and experience. The company also currently offers a Long-Term Incentive Plan (cash plan) of 25% base salary, annual performance bonus target of 25% base salary (subject to meeting plan requirements) and comprehensive health benefits (employer funded), unlimited vacation time and 401k plan (subject to change or modification from time to time).
Position Summary
The Training Director (Commercial and Medical Training) at Averitas plays a key role in shaping the company’s strategic direction by leading innovative training programs across commercial and medical teams. With a focus on driving performance excellence, this role will ensure the teams are equipped to deliver outstanding results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This leader will have to possess a broad mindset, balancing structured strategies with the flexibility to manage challenges as they arise, ensuring that all aspects of training and development are effectively delivered.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for developing and executing training strategies that enhance employee knowledge and skills to meet business goals, regulatory requirements, and industry credentialing standards, with key performance indicators including improved team competency, increased training completion rates, and alignment with business objectives and compliance standards.
- In collaboration with key departments, this role will lead a comprehensive training strategy that supports brand initiatives and drives corporate growth, including the delivery of training plans, curriculum, objectives, programs, and their execution.
- Training Program Design and Delivery
- Develop and implement engaging, relevant training methodologies that adapt to evolving industry trends and regional variations, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Measure program impact through employee performance metrics, completion rates, and post-training feedback.
- Training Tools and Systems

- Identify and manage digital platforms and tools that enhance training delivery and allow for scalable learning solutions.
- Lead the management of the LMS platform, including module development, testing, and remediation.
- Continuously evaluate training effectiveness by measuring participant engagement and knowledge retention through feedback, assessment, and evaluation tools.
- Track system utilization rates and monitor progress against key training KPIs (e.g., completion rates, certification percentages).

- Stakeholder Engagement
- Align training strategy with broader organizational goals to ensure unified vision and enterprise impact.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with business partners to design and refine training programs and curricula, delivering a comprehensive, targeted learning and development strategy that enhances field team capabilities, fosters job-specific skill development, and improves team and functional performance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with training vendor partners to ensure timely, on-budget deliverables.
- Facilitation and Meetings
- Collaborate with HR and other functions to design and deliver effective onboarding and ongoing training processes, ensuring seamless integration of overall employee experience.
- Develop agendas for sales meetings and training workshops to engage the team, deliver impactful learning experiences and ensure high competency.
- Facilitate all training sessions, both in-person and virtual, to ensure participant engagement and improvements in knowledge application and performance post-training.
- Credentialing
- Oversee training and certification programs to ensure commercial and medical employees meet industry standards and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications, Career Experience And Skills
A combination of relevant education and applicable job experience will be considered.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience.
- Advanced degree preferred or equivalent experience.
Career Experience
- Proven experience leading a training function in the pharmaceutical or medical device industry, including Field Sales leadership, preferably within small or start-up environments where agility and hands-on execution are key.
- Experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry sales, with a focus on buy and bill or specialty product promotion, utilizing Specialty Pharmacy and HUB services preferred.
- Extensive experience in training delivery and facilitation, and strong knowledge of adult learning principles, curriculum development, and leadership development.

- Expertise in designing and implementing training strategies for diverse audiences (sales, marketing, medical affairs), with a strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulations, product launches, sales processes, credentialing requirements, and industry trends, especially in the Commercial Training environment.
- In-depth understanding of compliance guidelines and regulations affecting field sales teams, with strong business agility to identify obstacles and opportunities and translate them into effective training solutions.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders, while managing shifting priorities and time-sensitive projects, and being highly accountable for results with exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
Travel
The ability to travel up to 30%, including overnight trips, as required for business meetings, field coaching, and attendance at company-sponsored events, meetings, and conferences.
