The Role

PA Health is searching for a VP, Learning Experience Designer to lead the Learning Solutions team in developing and executing cutting-edge learning and instructional design strategies. This role will oversee the creation of compelling, evidence-based educational experiences, leveraging the latest in instructional design, and digital engagement.  

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing and developing product and disease as well as professional skills-based training programs for a variety of US and global audiences in the pharmaceutical (or related life science) industry, and a proven ability to drive innovative learning solutions in a fast-paced agency setting. 

This is a hybrid position with the ability to work from any of our JPA Health offices (DC, NYC, Boston or Philadelphia) twice a week.  

The Responsibilities

Provide instructional design and development services: 

• Translate complex information into understandable and engaging communications and learning solutions aligned to business objectives. 
• Design and develop interactive and engaging instructor-led and on-demand blended learning programs (synchronous and asynchronous) in various formats and media. 
• Create activities that blend knowledge and skills to enhance application and impact on the job (eg, engagement skills with product knowledge). 
• Consider and apply instructional design principles to work (eg, Adult Learning Principles, Bloom’s Taxonomy, Gagne’s Nine Events, performance support, etc.). 
• Develop storyboards for eLearnings and videos. 
• Design and write learning support tools (e.g., storyboards, PPT decks, facilitator guides, participant guides, quick-reference guides, and job aids). 
• Actively embrace new technologies to enhance learning experiences and client delivery, including generative AI and other AI-based tools 
• Support business development by contributing to pitch development, proposal writing, and client presentations. 
• Manage budgets and financial planning for learning programs, ensuring cost-effective execution and alignment with business objectives. 
• Establish KPIs and analytics to assess program effectiveness and continuously optimize learning experiences. 
• Ensure all educational content aligns with industry standards, including FDA, PhRMA, and other relevant guidelines. 

Strategic Planning:  

• Contribute to the growth of the JPA Health Learning Solutions team via strategic planning and business development 
• Contribute to proposal and presentation development 
• Lead or participate in sales presentations and pitches 
• Contribute to strategic direction and business planning for the company 
• Assist with development of new programs and services 
• Lead or contribute to special projects 

Team Leadership: Mentor and lead a high-performing Learning Solutions team, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence. Conduct performance assessments, including development of written review and live presentation and discussion. 

Client Engagement: Serve as a strategic partner to clients, understanding their needs and delivering tailored learning solutions that drive impact and helping to proactively identify opportunities to elevate and expand learning solutions in collaboration with client service team

About You

Our ideal candidate must have:

• Bachelor’s Degree with at least 8 years of experience in instructional / learning experience design.  
• 5+ years’ experience leading a training division at a pharmaceutical company or an agency serving pharmaceutical clients. 
• Expertise in designing and developing learning experiences in the pharmaceutical industry (Sales and/or Medical Affairs), with the ability to translate complex scientific data into engaging learning experiences. 
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of team building, mentoring, and stakeholder management. 
• Proven ability to support business development efforts, including pitching, proposal development, and client presentations. 
• Experience with eLearning products such Articulate 360 (RISE and Storyline).  
• Experience designing and developing content for delivery via learning-management systems (LMS), and familiarity with SCORM and xAPI.  
• Portfolio with examples of learning experiences related to healthcare and/or pharma will be required

We would be thrilled if you also have:

• Master’s Degree a plus 
• Experience applying game-based tools to learning activities a plus  
• Graphic design experience a plus  
• Pharma agency experience

The anticipated starting pay for this role is between $180,000 – $220,000 annually, based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, qualifications, and location. You may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses. We review compensation annually and evaluate readiness for promotions every quarter.
