Summary:

The Instructional Technology and AI Manager is responsible for developing and collaborating with faculty and other campus partners on workshops and resources for the integration of instructional technology into teaching, with particular emphasis on the responsible use of generative artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies in teaching. In addition, this position is responsible for overseeing the construction, redesigns, and maintenance of CFE’s websites and supporting the web development and maintenance for selected units reporting to the Office of the Provost.

Essential Functions:

  • Consult, advise, and partner with faculty and other campus partners to develop faculty-driven workshops related to teaching strategies incorporating instructional technology with particular emphasis on emerging technologies.
  • Support the Director of Teaching in managing the Center’s efforts to improve teaching and learning through the effective application of instructional technology, including, but not limited to the use of general artificial intelligence in teaching.
  • Independently consult with individual faculty as well as instructional staff across the university to support the effective use and implementation of best practices in instructional technology.
  • Research, recommend, and stay current on relevant instructional technology trends and develop extensive resources to support excellence and innovation in instruction.
  • Support the Director of Teaching in developing and maintaining the Center’s programming and resources for faculty on the responsible use of Generative Artificial Intelligence in their teaching.
  • Build strong relationships with faculty and stakeholders to provide excellent customer service.
  • Serve as CFE’s webmaster, which includes supervision of website construction, redesigns, and maintenance. Collaborate with other members of the CFE team to ensure that all web content is accurate, up to date, and accessible.
  • Support the web development and maintenance for selected units reporting to the Office of the Provost, including the Office of the Dean of Faculty, Office of Undergraduate Education, and others.
  • Supervise two or more part-time graduate student employees responsible for day-to-day web updates, and conduct searches, make hiring decisions, train, assign work and projects, meet regularly, provide feedback and coaching, and coordinate the work and workload among them.
  • Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to assisting with events, assisting other team members as needed, etc.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Full-Time.
  • 35 hours per week.

Salary Range:

  • $65,000 – $75,000 annually.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Instructional Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in faculty development, teaching in higher education, or instructional design.
  • Familiarity with a range of instructional technologies that support innovative pedagogy, including generative artificial intelligence applications to teaching and other emerging instructional technologies.
  • Experience in developing educational curricula and/or faculty development programming.
  • Strong experience in web development and design.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, verbal and written communication skills, and organizational skills.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Five or more years of experience working in higher education.
  • At least one year’s experience working directly with faculty in conceptualizing, and designing applications of educational technology tools, and in providing faculty with hands-on training.
  • Supervisory experience.
