Training and Organization Development – Human Resources

Training & Organizational Development at Florida State University, part of the Office of Human Resources, is dedicated to advancing the strategic goals of the FSU organization. TOD focuses on delivering workplace training and professional development opportunities to enhance the performance and personal growth of university employees.

Responsibilities

The Instructional Design Assistant will support the design and development of training courses that meet the identified needs of FSU departments and employees. The Instructional Design Assistant will collaborate with the TOD team and subject matter experts to deliver high-quality learning experiences and ensure project timelines are met.

  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of current training programs and online content to increase engagement and knowledge retention.
  • Provide recommendations for course interface design, architecture, navigation, and content arrangement.
  • Craft instructional design documents for review, revision, and implementation. 
  • Support the design and production of e-learning sites within the context of personal and organizational development, utilizing content authoring technology, graphic design tools, and other e-learning software.
  • Review and apply emerging trends in e-learning, instructional design, universal design, and accessibility.
  • Design course materials that reflect an understanding of adult learning theory and varied learning styles.
  • Work with internal subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop new content and/or convert existing content into online formats.
  • Ensure outstanding customer service is provided to all internal and external customers.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office applications and eLearning authoring tools to prepare documents and presentations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of instructional design or curriculum development work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Individuals who live in the Tallahassee area and can report to campus as needed.
  • 1-2 years of instructional design or curriculum development work experience. 
  • Experience utilizing Articulate Rise, Storyline, Adobe Creative Suite, and video development software. 
  • Strong enthusiasm for creating high-quality online courses and engaging learning experiences.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both collaboratively and independently.
  • Commitment to delivering a positive customer experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technology. 
  • Excellent follow-through, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of instructional design principles and adult learning theories.

Anticipated Salary Range

The anticipated salary for this position will be based on experience, starting at an hourly rate of $21.
