In This Role…

You will be responsible for creating engaging, high‑quality learning experiences that support automotive and electric vehicle manufacturing teams. This role works closely with business partners and subject matter experts to identify skill needs, design effective curriculum, and deliver instructor‑led, virtual, and digital training aligned to business goals. The Learning Designer applies modern instructional design practices, data insights, and AI‑enabled tools to improve learning effectiveness, personalize experiences, and continuously evolve programs as manufacturing technologies and processes change.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do…

  • Learning Strategy & Analysis: Partner with stakeholders to identify business objectives and skill gaps within the automotive/EV sectors. Develop comprehensive learning frameworks, competency models, and career pathways aligned with industry trends.
  • Curriculum Design & Development: Lead the end-to-end creation of multimodal learning experiences (ILT, e-learning, microlearning, and blended). Collaborate with SMEs to ensure technical accuracy and utilize authoring tools to build engaging, high-quality content.
  • Program Management & Evaluation: Oversee the planning, budgeting, and delivery of learning initiatives. Use data dashboards and learner feedback to analyze program effectiveness and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Management & Advisory: Act as a trusted advisor to leadership, communicating progress and providing data-driven recommendations. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between designers, trainers, and business leaders.
  • Innovation & Mentorship: Drive a modern learning culture through social learning, gamification, and AI-enabled tools. Mentor junior team members and stay current on emerging instructional technologies and adult learning principles.
  • Travel – up to 25% to Ford locations.

Qualifications

You’ll Have…

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Adult Ed or a related field with 4 or more years of experience in curriculum development and learning strategy.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong mastery of ID models (ADDIE, SAM), adult learning theories, and technical writing.
  • Tool Proficiency: Advanced skills in e-learning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline, Captivate, Camtasia), Adobe Creative Cloud, and Learning Management Systems (LMS/LXP).
  • Project Leadership: Proven ability to manage complex, simultaneous projects, translate business gaps into learning solutions, and align L&D metrics with organizational success.
  • Communication: Exceptional presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and simplify complex technical information.

Even Better You’ll Have…

  • Education & Experience: Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Adult Ed or related field 
  • Advanced Media Production: Experience in video scripting and production (Premiere, Vyond, Synthesia, SimpleShow, guidde) and graphic design.
  • Emerging Tech: Proficiency in using Generative AI for content drafting and learning analytics.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of automotive manufacturing processes and Electric Vehicle (EV) technologies.
  • Language: Fluency in a second language is a plus.

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $84,480-141,360.
