What to Expect

The Tesla Collision Training team is seeking an innovative Associate Manager to lead our Instructional Design team. In this role, you will oversee the strategy and creation of technical Online Learning (OLT), Instructor-Led Training (ILT), and Virtual Instructor-Led Training (vILT) for the Collision organization in North America.

You will not just manage a team; you will coach a group of talented high performing Instructional Designers, Media Developers, and Coordinators to solve complex business problems through training. You will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of high-priority projects, ensuring that our training solutions are agile, scalable, and effective. We are looking for a leader who is able to think outside the box and solve problems quickly and efficiently, leverages AI and new technologies, and is obsessed with the learner experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with Technical Operations, Field Leadership, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to conduct root-cause analysis on performance gaps. Translate business needs into measurable learning strategies rather than just “training orders”
  • Oversee a diverse portfolio of small-to-large scale projects. Prioritize resources effectively in a fast-paced environment to ensure on-time delivery of critical products and process updates
  • Champion the use of cutting-edge instructional technologies (AI tools, simulations, interactive media) and methodologies. Establish and maintain rigorous design standards to ensure consistency and quality across all learning assets
  • Act as the bridge between technical stakeholders and the creative team. Communicate complex technical concepts and project roadmaps clearly to diverse audiences, from technicians to executive leadership
  • Utilize data to evaluate the efficacy of current training offerings. Proactively recommend the retirement, adaptation, or overhaul of legacy content to align with current business objectives

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Adult Learning, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 3–5 years of management experience specifically leading and developing creative or instructional design teams
  • Deep working knowledge of adult learning theory (ADDIE, SAM, Agile Learning) with a proven track record of applying these theories to technical environments
  • Proficiency with authoring tools (Articulate 360: Storyline/Rise, Camtasia) and a strong understanding of how to leverage AI tools to accelerate development. High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, SharePoint) is required
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to negotiate with stakeholders, manage expectations, and present complex plans to leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and lead through change. You must be self-motivated and capable of making decisions with incomplete information
