The Contract Learning & Development Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering training content to support AE Perkins’ goals for employee onboarding, skill enhancement, and knowledge of new products, processes, and procedures. This is a part-time, temporary, short-term, independent contract role that will work on individual training projects on an as-needed basis.  This role combines facilitation, instructional design, and content management expertise, using various platforms and tools to provide impactful training through both live and online formats. The Contract Learning & Development Specialist will work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders, curate and create engaging content, and meet rigorous key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure training success.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (Core Competencies)

  • Live Training Facilitation (Intermediate):
    • Facilitate live training sessions in-person and virtually.
    • Maintain high levels of engagement and adapt delivery methods based on participant feedback.
  • Training Content Development (Intermediate):
    • Develop engaging training materials through collaboration with SMEs and stakeholders, including course outlines, learning activities, assessments, and facilitator guides.
    • Use instructional design principles to create training content for live and online courses, leveraging slide decks, storyboards, and interactive modules.
  • Course Implementation & LMS Management (Intermediate):
    • Build and implement interactive online courses in the LMS by structuring content, integrating multimedia elements, and ensuring ease of navigation.
    • Create online course content to optimize learner engagement and evaluate learner progress.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement (Intermediate):
    • Collaborate with other departments, SMEs, and stakeholders to understand training needs and implement content that aligns with business goals and industry trends.
  • Administrative Responsibilities (Intermediate):
    • Manage training-related administrative tasks, including scheduling live sessions, tracking attendance, preparing materials, documenting processes, and managing third-party content.

 


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Curriculum and Training Design:  Strong knowledge of instructional design methodologies and curriculum development for corporate training (Intermediate).
  • Facilitation and Presentation: Proven skills in facilitating engaging presentations and maintaining learner interest through active facilitation techniques, both virtually and in-person (Intermediate).
  • Instructional Technologies Proficiency: Proficient in Google Workspace, LMS platforms, course-authoring software, and various educational technology tools (e.g., video creators, graphic design tools, storyboard creators) to design interactive, multimedia learning materials (Intermediate).
  • Project Management and Organization: Ability to manage project timelines, coordinate SME contributions, and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment (Intermediate).
  • Communication and Collaboration Skills: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills for building collaborative relationships and engaging diverse audiences  (Advanced).
  • Adaptability: Ability to learn and adapt to new systems, instructional tools, and industry standards (Intermediate).

 


CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Education: 
    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Instructional Design, Education, or related field, preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.
    • All qualified candidates must include a link to a digital portfolio showcasing their training work to be considered for this position.
  • Experience:
    • 3+ years in curriculum development, instructional design, facilitation, and LMS administration, preferably in a corporate training environment.
    • Experience in training delivery in a variety of modalities, including instructor led, virtual instructor led, asynchronous online, and hybrid/blended.
    • Familiarity with Absorb LMS and Create course authoring tools, or similar LMS and course authoring platforms.
    • Familiarity with Canva, Venngage, Pictory, and Coursensu, or similar educational technology tools.

The pay rate for this temporary position is set to be $35.00/hour for the duration of the project.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work in an office environment; sustain posture in a seated or standing position for prolonged periods of time; use hands to grasp and reach; occasionally stoop or kneel; see, hear, and speak with sufficient acuity to successfully perform all aspects of the job; use telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means; lift up to ten pounds of weight.
