Position Minimum Requirements 

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Instructional Design, Organizational Leadership, Organizational Development, Business, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of related work experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills,knowledgeand abilities for the position.

Position Summary 

Learning & Organizational Development (OD) Specialist is responsible for facilitation of technical/non-technical training and development of programs. Schedule, prepare, and facilitate training and development classes. Provide personal and professional development and measure effectiveness of learning solutions. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities   

  • Integrates diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the design, management, and implementation within all developmental programs.
  • Develops solutions to complex problems and coordinate programs for the organization by developing a learning strategy.
  • Conducts needs analyses to evaluate organizational learning needs and recommend, refine and implement program solutions as needed. 
  • Prepares and distributes training aids such as instructional material, handouts, evaluation forms and visual aids; sets up audiovisual equipment and makes presentations when necessary. 
  • Creates custom learning solutions for varying customers across the organization.
  • Reviews materials for accuracy, completeness and compliance with personnel policies,laws and other regulations. 
  • Builds relationships with internal customers and external vendors. 
  • Develops and manages learning and organizational development initiatives that align with business goals, and organizational strategies.
  • Drives engagement and development at all levels of the organization while fostering an environment of continuous learning to encourage career growth and succession readiness. 
  • Leverages industry best practices around organizational design trends and provides recommendations for adoption.
  • Leads with Denver Water values and ensures they are embedded into all learning programs.
  • Collects and organizes data to measure and articulate program effectiveness and impact based on strategic alignment, overall organizational health and key performance indicators. 
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with key partners and stakeholders to define appropriate scope and focus for initiatives. 
  • Performs related work as required. 

The following discipline(s) fall under this job description:   

  • People Skill Facilitator (45%):Focuses on the delivery of engaging content for all learners both in person and virtually. This includes the management of in-house and offsite activities such as presentations, job simulations, on-the-job training, role-playing exercises and team building. This also includes organization of online and hard copy learning materials as needed. 
  • Technical/Field Facilitator (20%):Focuses on the delivery of training by engaging learners “where the work is done” outside of a typical classroom. This may include facilitation at treatment plants, reservoirs or in other settings. This may also include training after typical hours for night shift employees. 
  • Instructional Designer (25%):Responsible for conceptualizing, designing and writing highly effective learning solutions (instructor-led training, e-learning, blended solutions, videos, and podcasts) using adult learning theories and methodologies. This position will interface with cross-functional teams, provide exceptional customer service and manage several projects concurrently. The employee must be able to work collaboratively with all levels of management. 
  • Multimedia Instructional Designer (10%):Responsible for planning, developing, and managing the support of learning communication, publications, multimedia, and instructor led presentations. Helps build understanding by effectively developing learning tools through traditional, digital, and print methods.
