The Instructional Designer is a key partner to the Learning Program Managers and Talent Development team, supporting both in-office and remote team members across the organization.

The Instructional Designer is hands-on, ensuring excellence in learning content creation and providing comprehensive instructional design support. The ideal candidate is a creative professional with experience in developing engaging learning content across various modalities. They will apply innovative strategies and modern instructional design practices to enhance learning experiences. A solid foundation in adult learning principles, the ability to utilize data insights, and an openness to integrating AI technologies are essential. The Instructional Designer collaborates closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders to achieve organizational learning goals.

Essential Responsibilities/Success Factors

Content Development and Design

  • Create Effective Content: Develop engaging and digestible content using adult learning principles, best practices, and learning innovations.
  • Apply Instructional Design Methodology: Create effective learning content using established instructional design methodologies.
  • Leverage AI for Content Development: Utilize AI tools to accelerate the content development process, enhancing efficiency and innovation in instructional design.
  • Create Microlearning: Design and build microlearning modules that deliver impactful, bite-sized learning experiences..

Evaluation and Continuous Improvement

  • Assess Learning Effectiveness: Conduct assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of learning programs and make necessary adjustments based on feedback and data.
  • Utilize Data Insights: Use learner engagement data to refine content and improve the overall learning experience.
  • Implement Updates: Regularly update learning materials to ensure they remain current with user feedback and evolving business needs.

Project and Experience Management

  • Project Management: Effectively manage assigned instructional design projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
  • Incorporate User Experience (UX) Design: Apply UX design principles to create intuitive and engaging learning experiences.
  • Enhance User Experience with AI: Apply AI technologies to improve the user experience, facilitating the application of knowledge and skills in real-world scenarios.

Innovation and Trends

  • Applied Learning Approaches: Utilize multiple approaches to learning, including social learning, learning nudges, and experiential techniques to boost engagement.
  • Stay Current with Trends: Maintain an awareness of the latest trends in learning technology and instructional design to keep content fresh and relevant.

Minimum Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

Required: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in instructional design roles, with a proven track record of creating engaging learning content across various modalities.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in instructional design tools such as Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Adobe Captivate, and video editing software. Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and AI-driven learning platforms.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of adult learning principles, learning best practices, and learning technology.

Preferred:  

  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP)

  • Analytical Thinking: Exhibits the ability to analyze information and identify solutions to enhance the learner experience.

  • Creative Design: Applies creative thinking to design engaging materials and is adaptable to new learning technologies and methods.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in using standard instructional design software and the ability to quickly learn new digital platforms.
