Cornell University is an innovative Ivy League university where an inclusive community of scholars, students, and staff impart an uncommon sense of larger purpose and contribute creative ideas to further the university’s mission of teaching, discovery, and engagement. With our main campus located in Ithaca, New York, Cornell’s global presence includes the medical college’s campuses on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and Doha, Qatar, as well as the Cornell Tech campus located on Roosevelt Island in the heart of New York City.
We offer a rich array of services, programs, and benefits to help employees advance in their career and enhance the quality of personal life, including employee wellness, workshops, childcare and adoption assistance, parental leave, and flexible work options.
Our Mission
Cornell Human Ecology (CHE) explores the complexity of human life. We bring together a wide range of perspectives to understand the full context of the human experience and improve lives at every scale, from cells to society. Our research and academic programs focus on the interaction of humans with their biological, economic, social and physical environments. Using Cornell’s far-reaching extension network and the college’s translational research methods, we deliver our findings directly to communities and families, ensuring that our work reaches those who need it most. We prioritize innovative collaboration and are fueled by a powerful, interdisciplinary, and applied approach to improving lives.
Within CHE, the Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research (BCTR) connects the world with research. The BCTR and its projects and programs expand, strengthen, and accelerate the relationship between cutting-edge research and the design, evaluation, and implementation of policies and practices that enhance human development, health, and well-being. The BCTR also develops research with communities and decision-makers that can help solve issues affecting human health and well-being. To learn more about the BCTR visit https://bctr.cornell.edu/.
The Opportunity
The BCTR is seeking to hire a full-time Curriculum Development & Innovation Coordinator to develop and administer a new curriculum in translational research science. A central feature of the BCTR’s approach to translational research is partnership with community, and the Coordinator will work with college leadership, faculty, staff, and students to strengthen and support opportunities for community-engaged learning within Cornell Human Ecology. The Coordinator will assess impact and recommend improvements to programming and curricula. In addition, the Coordinator will administer the BCTR Scholars Program, a community-engaged learning program within the BCTR in which undergraduates develop translational research skills that they apply in summer internship placements with local community organizations. Across these responsibilities, the Coordinator will manage partnerships and build collaborations within the college and in external community organizations.
While position responsibilities vary, every member of our community is expected to foster a culture of belonging and a healthy work environment by communicating across differences; being cooperative, collaborative, open, and welcoming; showing respect, compassion, and empathy; engaging and supporting others regardless of background or perspective; speaking up when others are being excluded or treated inappropriately; and supporting work/life integration of oneself and others.
Key Responsibilities include:
Curriculum Development
Curriculum Innovation
Curriculum Evaluation
Success in the Curriculum Innovation & Development Coordinator role requires a strategic mindset, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage complex academic programs that span both university and community settings. The ideal candidate brings strong communication and collaboration skills, enabling them to build productive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community partners. Adaptability, cultural humility, and a commitment to inclusive practices are essential for fostering equitable learning environments and supporting diverse populations. Success in this role also depends on a proactive approach to problem-solving, the ability to assess and improve curriculum and programs based on data, and a genuine passion for community-engaged and translational research. The Coordinator must demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and a deep respect for community voices while helping to create impactful learning experiences that bridge academic knowledge and real-world application.
