Senior Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) – Consultant
Engagement Overview
AMCI is seeking a Senior Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) Consultant to support high-visibility, client-facing learning initiatives. This role requires a self-directed, experienced professional who can independently lead instructional design efforts while collaborating directly with stakeholders and subject matter experts.
This is not a junior or production-only role—this is for someone who can own the design process end-to-end, operate in front of clients, and deliver high-quality solutions under tight timelines.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead full lifecycle instructional design (analysis, design, development, evaluation)
• Design and storyboard interactive eLearning (Level 1–3 interactivity)
• Develop SCORM-compliant, Section 508–compliant learning solutions
• Create ILT, VILT, and self-paced digital learning experiences
• Produce course design documents, guides, and job aids
• Lead client meetings and collaborate with SMEs
• Conduct curriculum analysis and identify training gaps
• Support pilot programs, testing, and continuous improvement
Quality Assurance & Standards
• Establish and maintain quality assurance standards for all learning deliverables
• Conduct comprehensive QA reviews across instructional design quality, content accuracy, and user experience
• Ensure all deliverables meet Section 508 accessibility standards, SCORM compliance, and client-specific guidelines
• Review and validate storyboards, scripts, and final course builds
• Identify and resolve issues related to navigation, functionality, and instructional flow
• Support pilot testing and incorporate feedback into final deliverables
• Implement continuous improvement processes based on learner feedback and performance data
Required Experience
• 5–10+ years of senior-level instructional design experience
• Proven ability to design highly interactive eLearning
• Experience in client-facing or consulting environments
• Expertise in ADDIE, adult learning principles, SCORM, LMS, and Section 508
• Proficiency with Articulate 360 and Camtasia
• Experience across ILT, VILT, and self-paced formats
Preferred Experience
•• Experience in technical, project management, or regulated environments
• Background supporting government or enterprise clients
• Familiarity with AI tools in learning or project management
• Experience with gamification and simulations
• Ability to design hands-on, applied learning experiences
• DoD experience
• PMP Certification
