The Senior Associate of Assessment and Learning Improvement is a key role within the office of Learning Outcomes and Quality Improvement (LOQI) at Excelsior, specifically within the office of the provost. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide expertise and leadership in academic assessment, programmatic/curriculum review, accreditation, and co-curricular/student affairs assessment. The Senior Associate will collaborate with academic parties of interest, including faculty, program directors, instructional designers, teaching and learning/faculty development staff, and subject matter experts, to ensure effective academic quality assurance for practices, interventions, and an environment to best support continuous improvement of student learning. Related to student learning, the Senior Associate will assist in co-curricular/student affairs assessment activities, providing consultation and guidance in the development of assessment plans and reporting procedures. This role will also support the collection and analysis of data for institutional and specialized accreditation purposes and facilitate compliance with accreditation standards.

Our hybrid schedule has you in the Albany office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the flexibility to work from home on other days. Spend less time commuting and more time focusing on meaningful work or personal priorities. Core hours are 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, including a 1-hour lunch, for a 37.5-hour week.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Provide leadership and capacity building in the learning outcomes assessment process for colleges and student affairs programs/units. 
  • Provide expertise and consultation throughout each step of a typical assessment cycle (e.g., designing of learning outcome statements, alignment of curriculum content and educational activities to learning outcomes, assessment planning, development of formative and summative assessment techniques, data collection, assessment reporting). 
  • Regularly monitor results from annual program and institutional assessments, as well as program review, consulting and advising academic and student affairs leadership on interpretation of results and implementation of plans in achievement of continuous improvement. 
  • Ensure the use of quality assessment data to inform program/course/intervention development, maintenance, and improvement. 
  • Serve as a resource and subject matter expert on assessment methodologies, tools, and technologies. 
  • Conduct analyses; prepare reports, visualizations, and present results in support of overall university-wide initiatives and both academic and student affairs assessment processes. 
  • Review and provide feedback on all accreditation-related reporting, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to accreditation guidelines. 
  • Work closely with analytics and decision support teams across the university to establish data-driven decision-making processes and reporting mechanisms (e.g., dashboards, visualizations, hard-coded reports) for learning outcomes assessment and accreditation purposes. 
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of accreditation-related documentation and activities. 
  • Support LOQI and Excelsior by participating in initiatives, task forces, committees, and other duties as assigned.

  • Experience with institutional, national, and specialized postsecondary accreditation standards, practices, and goals. 
  • Expertise in assessment, data analysis and educational outcomes. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work with diverse members of the college community including students, faculty, staff, administrators, and accreditors. 
  • Demonstrated ability for effective organizational skills and ability to connect to institutional strategy while displaying attention to detail. 
  • Ability to synthesize and analyze quantitative and qualitative data and prepare, visualize, and present data and reports effectively. 
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to develop and maintain knowledge of university data systems, definitions, and procedures. 
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions. 
  • Leadership skills, ability to motivate staff in continuous improvement efforts.

The hiring salary range for this position is $90,000.00 – $106,000.00. The hiring salary range above represents the University’s good faith estimate at the time of posting.
