About the role

We’re looking for a Database Administrator to build and maintain the learning infrastructure that powers both our internal training programs and customer education initiatives. You’ll own the systems that store, organize, and serve learning data—making sure our L&D team can focus on content and delivery, not wrestling with databases.

What you’ll do

• Set up and configure databases to support learning management and course delivery platforms
• Manage user access, permissions, and data integrity across learning systems
• Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement backups and recovery procedures
• Work with the L&D team to understand data needs for reporting, learner progress tracking, and compliance
• Document database architecture and processes so the team can maintain systems independently
• Support both internal employee training and customer-facing education platforms

Where this leads

You’ll become the go-to expert on how learning data flows through our organization. As you grow, you’ll shape decisions about which tools we adopt, how we scale to support more learners, and how we use data to improve training outcomes. This role is a natural bridge into broader learning technology leadership if that interests you.

What we’re looking for

Required:

• Hands-on experience administering relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar)
• Ability to create and manage user accounts, roles, and permissions
• Comfort with backup, recovery, and basic performance tuning
• Willingness to learn L&D tools and workflows—you don’t need to know LMS platforms yet, but you need to be curious

Strong plus:

• Experience with learning management systems or educational technology platforms
• Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG, Section 508) and how they affect data design
• Basic scripting or automation skills (Python, PowerShell, or similar)

About the role environment

EEC Irrigation is building out its L&D function to support both employee development and customer training at scale. You’re joining at an early stage, which means you’ll have real autonomy in how you set things up—but also less established process to lean on. This role works best for someone who’s comfortable with hands-on technical work and enjoys collaborating with non-technical stakeholders to understand what they need.
