The Faculty Multimedia Center (FMC) is a faculty-focused innovation and production space within the Center for Distributed Learning (CDL) at the University of Central Florida. The FMC partners with faculty to enhance teaching through instructional technology, multimedia production, immersive learning, accessibility, and emerging educational technologies. Services include faculty consultations, professional development, multimedia studios, equipment checkout, 3D printing and scanning, extended reality (XR), instructional media development, and technology exploration.

As part of the Division of Digital Learning, the Center for Distributed Learning advances high-quality teaching and learning experiences through innovation, collaboration, and the effective integration of technology.

The Opportunity:

The Center for Distributed Learning (CDL) is seeking an innovative and collaborative Instructional Technology Specialist II to join the Faculty Multimedia Center (FMC). This position partners directly with university faculty to integrate instructional technologies that enhance teaching, learning, and student engagement across multiple instructional modalities.

The successful candidate will provide consultations, design and deliver faculty professional development, coordinate training initiatives across the Center for Distributed Learning, develop instructional resources, evaluate emerging educational technologies, and support multimedia and immersive learning initiatives. Working closely with instructional designers and other academic technology professionals, this position serves as a trusted instructional technology consultant while helping faculty explore new approaches to teaching through technology.

This position also contributes to the ongoing growth of the Faculty Multimedia Center by supporting new initiatives in areas such as artificial intelligence, extended reality (XR), multimedia production, accessibility, instructional media, and other emerging educational technologies.

This is an Auxiliary (AUX) funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

Responsibilities:

  • Consult with faculty on the effective integration of instructional technologies to support teaching and learning.
  • Design, develop, and facilitate workshops, webinars, training programs, and instructional resources for faculty and staff.
  • Research, evaluate, pilot, and implement emerging educational technologies that support innovative teaching practices.
  • Develop multimedia, documentation, tutorials, and online learning resources supporting instructional technology initiatives.
  • Provide consultations and support for Faculty Multimedia Center services, including multimedia production, instructional media, accessibility, immersive technologies, and related educational technologies.
  • Coordinate and support daily Faculty Multimedia Center operations, services, and special projects to ensure a high-quality faculty experience.
  • Coordinate faculty and staff professional development activities across the Center for Distributed Learning by working collaboratively with multiple departments to plan, schedule, promote, and deliver training programs.
  • Partner with subject matter experts and stakeholders across CDL to develop cohesive training pathways, workshops, and instructional resources supporting university initiatives.
  • Assist in identifying training needs across the organization and coordinate the development of new learning opportunities aligned with institutional priorities.
  • Collaborate with instructional designers and other university partners on instructional technology projects and faculty support initiatives.
  • Assist in developing operational procedures, documentation, and best practices for Faculty Multimedia Center services.
  • Support university events, demonstrations, outreach activities, and technology showcases promoting instructional innovation.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to OPS employees and student assistants as assigned.
  • Serve on university committees, working groups, and professional organizations related to instructional technology and digital learning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 6 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing, developing, and facilitating professional development programs, workshops, webinars, or technology training for faculty, staff, or adult learners.
  • Experience creating instructional materials, multimedia content, online learning resources, tutorials, or other educational technologies that support teaching and learning.
  • Knowledge of instructional design principles, effective technology integration strategies, and accessibility best practices for digital learning materials.
  • Experience providing instructional technology consultation, faculty support, or professional development services within a higher education environment.
  • Experience supporting and implementing instructional technologies, such as learning management systems, video platforms, AI-enabled educational tools, immersive technologies, or multimedia production systems.
  • Demonstrated project management, organizational, customer service, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives and collaborate across varied audiences.
  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Learning Technologies, or a related field.

The most successful candidates may possess the following qualities:

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and collaboratively.
