The Edmonton Transit Service Learning and Development Centre delivers driver training to 400-600 Transit Operators per year.  This training combines classroom instruction with in-vehicle practice.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Learning & Development; you will be responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and refining all existing training materials for ETS Operators (Conventional Transit, LRT, and DATS) to ensure compliance with current industry standards, provincial and federal guidelines, and City of Edmonton policies.  Your responsibilities will include developing a standardized training program, developing tools to evaluate the effectiveness of each training course, and establishing a process of continuous review and revisions of all materials. 

 

What will you do?

  • Review, evaluate, and recommend changes in educational materials and methods of instruction
  • Design and develop curriculum content, teaching methodologies and assessment techniques
  • Research industry best practices, guidelines, and regulations related to operator training
  • Work with subject matter experts and instructors to ensure content is engaging and effective 
  • Work with ETS Instructors to field test all materials with the appropriate  targeted

audiences to verify efficiency, effectiveness, and completeness

  • Train and guide Instructors and other instructional staff in new content or programs
  • Work with instructors to implement the curriculum
  • Develop a plan and schedule for the continuous review and updating of all training materials

Qualifications

:

  • University Degree in Education or Adult Learning
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in adult education, including developing course curriculum
  • Experience using Google Suite applications

 

Assets 

  • Knowledge of CUTA (Canadian Urban Transit Association) Standards
  • Knowledge of Provincial and Federal Transportation Guidelines 

 

Skills required for success:

  • Expertise in developing course curriculum for adult learners
  • Ability to effectively interpret and translate technical processes and terms to a level consistent with the audience’s knowledge and learning needs
  • Experience with a variety of delivery methods including e-learning, face-to-face, web/story based
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, schedule, and execute training plans and programs
  • Excellent writing skills to develop a variety of training materials
  • Effective and adaptable communication/presentation skills to support a variety of learners
  • Ability to manage and maintain relationships and ensure the lines of accountability are clear and being adhered to
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders

  • Note: This position ​may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement ​with ​the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52
