Job Description
The Teaching and Learning Lab (TLL) is a mission-driven organization that supports faculty members at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) as they create residential and online learning experiences using a variety of pedagogical and technological approaches.
Under the general direction of the Executive Director, Teaching and Learning Lab, the Director of Learning Design, Technology, and Media is an experienced leader in the design and development of high-quality learning experiences. The position involves oversight and leadership in the areas of personnel and project management, and course design and development to serve the needs of the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) community. The Director is responsible for maintaining the learning design, technology, and media portfolio, ensuring quality and consistency in all offerings, keeping the TLL on the leading edge of relevant developments in the field, and managing and developing a growing number of professional staff within the Teaching and Learning Lab.
The Director will act as project manager for complex projects, ensuring completion of projects in a consistent and timely manner. They will be responsible for developing and leading a team of learning designers, technologists and media producers to ensure adequate support for the HGSE teaching and learning community, including the exploration, implementation, and evaluation of emerging learning design models and technology applications.
The successful candidate in this role will be an excellent communicator with the ability to both manage and lead a team as well as engender relationships of trust and respect with HGSE faculty members. The Director will represent the team in leadership conversations related to the strategic direction of the learning design portfolio and contribute insight into established and emerging best practices related to the creation of technology-enhanced learning experiences.

Work Format Details
This is a position that is based at a Harvard campus location with some remote work options available. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
