About the role

We’re seeking an L&D Specialist, Revenue with deep expertise in enabling technical selling roles (eg. solutions engineers). In this role, you’ll design and deliver technical learning experiences that strengthen capability across Shopify’s go-to-market (GTM) organization.

You’ll operate in a swarm model, partnering fluidly across teams and priorities as needs emerge—while serving as the specialist for highly technical audiences. This is an individual contributor role with broad cross-functional influence and the opportunity to shape Shopify’s technical enablement foundation.

The ideal candidate is passionate about technology, experienced in enablement for technical audiences, and thrives in a collaborative, creative environment. You’ll build strong partnerships across Product, revenue teams, and GTM stakeholders to ensure technical roles are supported with timely, relevant, high-impact learning.

Initially this position will work across product, craft, and onboarding swarms to ensure that our content provides the depth needed for highly technical roles within Shopify. For any missing content, the role would work with revenue SME’s to utilize existing documentation or build content to fill the gaps.

This is an opportunity to help shape and scale technical capability across Shopify’s Revenue organization. If you thrive at the intersection of technology and enablement—and want to build programs that drive real business outcomes—we’d love to hear from you.

About the Team

Shopify’s mission is to make commerce better for everyone—empowering businesses of all sizes to succeed. We support the people who power commerce by building programs that inspire, engage, and drive exceptional outcomes. The Revenue Learning & Development (L&D) team plays a key role in this mission, ensuring our teams have the knowledge, skills, and tools to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enablement Strategy
    • – Develop and execute enablement strategies for technical selling audiences, aligned to Revenue and GTM priorities.
    • – Build deep understanding of technical roles’ responsibilities, workflows, tools, and challenges.
    • – Identify capability gaps and translate business needs into scalable technical learning solutions.
  • Content Development & Innovation
    • – Create enablement content for technical audiences, making complex topics clear, practical, and actionable.
    • – Apply modern learning approaches (blended learning, performance support, scenario-based practice, labs/sandboxes, etc.) to improve skill adoption.
    • – Collaborate with L&D partners to design, build, and continuously refine programs.
  • Swarm-Based, Cross-Functional Partnerships
    • – Work in a flexible, swarm-based operating model—joining initiatives where technical enablement expertise is most needed.
    • – Partner with Product and technical stakeholders to ensure learning aligns with product direction, tooling changes, and evolving GTM motions.
    • – Serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, ensuring enablement solutions are outcome-driven and measurable.
    • – Collaborate closely with the broader Shopify Learning & Development team to align standards, tools, and best practices.
  • Program Ownership & Delivery
    • – Design and implement net-new technical enablement programs that build core and role-specific technical skills.
    • – Support readiness for launches, new offerings, and operational changes by delivering timely, high-quality technical enablement.
    • – Drive participation and completion for learning assignments, certifications, and skill validations as needed.
  • Driving Outcomes
    • – Define success metrics and measure program effectiveness (adoption, proficiency, readiness, quality, efficiency, stakeholder outcomes).
    • – Use data and feedback loops to iterate and improve enablement experiences over time.

Requirements

  • Technical Enablement Expertise: Experience building enablement for highly technical selling audiences; strong understanding of technical workflows and common challenges.
  • Instructional Design or Technical Writing: Demonstrated ability to design learning experiences or write technical content for technical learners.
  • Affinity for Technology: Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, role-relevant learning and performance support.
  • Collaboration: Proven ability to build strong relationships across Product, technical teams, and GTM stakeholders in a fast-moving environment.
  • Creativity: A practical, forward-thinking approach to designing innovative, measurable enablement solutions.
  • Global Perspective: Experience supporting distributed teams across multiple regions (e.g., EMEA, APAC, North America).
  • Proven experience building with AI: You don’t just use AI—you think AI-first. You’ve already implemented AI into workflows and can speak to the results. You’re not afraid to experiment with AI and use it to enhance your process.

Preferred Skills

  • Solution engineering or equivalent technical sales experience
  • Experience in SaaS organizations and the demands of technical selling roles within a GTM environment.
  • Experience building skills assessments and validation.
  • Strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to learning measurement and improvement.

About Shopify

Opportunity is not evenly distributed. Shopify puts independence within reach for anyone with a dream to start a business. We propel entrepreneurs and enterprises to scale the heights of their potential. Since 2006, we’ve grown to over 8,300 employees and generated over $1 trillion in sales for millions of merchants in 175 countries.

This is life-defining work that directly impacts people’s lives as much as it transforms your own. This is putting the power of the few in the hands of the many, is a future with more voices rather than fewer, and is creating more choices instead of an elite option.

About you

Moving at our pace brings a lot of change, complexity, and ambiguity—and a little bit of chaos. Shopifolk thrive on that and are comfortable being uncomfortable. That means Shopify is not the right place for everyone.

Before you apply, consider if you can:

  • Care deeply about what you do and about making commerce better for everyone
  • Excel by seeking professional and personal hypergrowth
  • Keep up with an unrelenting pace (the week, not the quarter)
  • Be resilient and resourceful in face of ambiguity and thrive on (rather than endure) change
  • Bring critical thought and opinion
  • Put AI agents and tools to work on the tasks they’re built for, and focus on the work only humans can do
  • Embrace differences and disagreement to get shit done and move forward
  • Work digital-first for your daily work

We may use AI-enabled tools to screen, select, and assess applications. All AI outputs are reviewed and validated by our recruitment team.
