We are seeking an experienced Education Developer with a strong background in medical laboratory science to develop, enhance, and maintain high-quality continuing education products and interactive learning experiences. This role combines laboratory expertise, instructional design, content development, product thinking, and quality oversight. The Education Developer will collaborate with subject matter experts, contract authors, internal teams, and external partners to create clinically accurate, engaging, and relevant educational content for laboratory professionals.
The ideal candidate will:
- Contribute to the development of innovative, learner-centered educational products.
- Bring a strong understanding of clinical relevance, regulatory standards (e.g., CLIA, CAP, ASCP), and real-world lab workflows.
- Help translate complex concepts into engaging, accessible content for learners at all career stages.\
- Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, identify inconsistencies in written content, and have the ability to follow established style guides to ensure consistency and standardization across a suite of education products.
The right candidate is passionate about education, innovation, and improving the professional growth of laboratory personnel. Experience with instructional design, LMS tools, or digital learning platforms is a plus.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop, review, and continuously improve CE courses, mini-courses, case-based learning, simulators, assessments, and other digital education products.
- Provide scientific and editorial oversight for content created by internal team members, contract authors, reviewers, and subject matter experts.
- Apply laboratory expertise and instructional design principles to identify knowledge gaps, improve learner engagement, and ensure clinical accuracy and relevance.
- Research emerging industry trends, regulatory changes, and advances in diagnostic testing to inform the education roadmap and future content priorities.
- Monitor user feedback, performance analytics, and client requests to inform continuous content improvement.
- Partner with Product, Marketing, Client Success, and Sales to provide scientific expertise, product education, and content support.
Qualifications
- Educational Requirements:
- Option 1: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology from a NAACLS-accredited program
- Option 2: Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from a NAACLS-accredited program AND a Bachelor’s degree in a related science field (e.g., biology, chemistry)
- MLS(ASCP) or MLT(ASCP) certification or equivalent through AMT
- Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., Curriculum Development, Public Health, Healthcare Administration) is preferred
- 5+ years of experience in a clinical laboratory and/or laboratory education setting
- Experience as an educator, such as an MLS/MLT Instructor or Program Director, is highly preferred.
- Strong scientific writing, editing, and content-review skills with exceptional attention to accuracy and consistency.
- Ability to translate complex clinical and regulatory concepts into clear, engaging learning experiences.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Strong project ownership, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently.
- Experience collaborating with subject matter experts, external authors, or cross-functional teams.
- Experience with instructional design, LMS platforms, digital learning tools, or simulation-based education preferred.
- Previous experience with MediaLab products is a plus.
