This position has a term length of 1 year plus 1 day, with the possibility of extension.

Location – This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person work at North Campus Edmonton.

The Post-Professional Programs Office at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences supports all stages of online and hybrid course design, development, maintenance, and evaluation for the Faculty’s post-professional / continuing education initiatives. Current flagship programming includes the non-credit Certificate to Canadian Pharmacy Practice (CCPP) program and the PharmD for Practicing Pharmacists (PPP) degree program. Anticipated non-credit program launches in 2026 include the Diploma to Canadian Pharmacy Practice (DCPP), the Certificate to Canadian Pharmacy Fundamentals (CCPF), and the Certificate in Clinical Pharmacotherapy Essentials (CCPE) programs.

Position Summary

The role leads the implementation, optimization, and continuous improvement of educational technologies supporting Post-Professional and Continuing Education programming. While primarily dedicated to these programs, the position also provides educational technology expertise and support for courses and initiatives within the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, as operational priorities and capacity permit. The position serves as the Faculty’s educational technology specialist for these programs, advising leadership, instructors and project teams on technology solutions, the established quality standards and innovation.

You will be part of a cross functional team that must work collaboratively and share in collective responsibility for the provision of a high quality of service and end-to-end support for unit initiatives.

Working under the operational direction of the Manager of Post-Professional Programs, you will lead the evaluation, recommendation, implementation and continuous enhancement of educational technologies supporting multiple post-professional programs. You will also collaborates extensively with broader project staff (such as academic leads, subject matter experts, instructional designers, project managers, etc) in the production of online courses, modules, interactive learning tools, multimedia resources, documentation, and learner support / reference resources. Additionally, the incumbent helps to provide ongoing orientation and technology-focused support to enrolled students as well as support for instructors when it comes to the delivery and maintenance of course content, ensuring adherence to established specifications and standards.

The work of the Educational Technology Coordinator is multi-faceted and requires a client service orientation, and a high level of knowledge, analytical, and time-management skills. 

Responsibilities

Online / Hybrid Course Production and Maintenance 

• Implements course development and educational technology requirements in alignment with established program priorities, delivery timelines, and quality standards coordinated through the Manager, Post-Professional Programs.
• Working within approved faculty and program priorities and established instructional and quality standards, provides professional leadership in the production, implementation, and continuous improvement of online course and module presentation, independently determining the appropriate technical and instructional approach, educational technologies, configurations, accessibility features, and testing/development approach in collaboration with faculty, subject matter experts, and project stakeholders. 
• Works with project staff to identify, document, prioritize, and complete project requirements (e.g. learner attributes, learning objectives, instructional approaches, assessment and reporting practices).
• Performs testing and quality assurance to verify that all completed projects are standards compliant following SCORM and other relevant specifications.
• Coordinates with the Assessment and Evaluation team to create and maintain remotely proctored online exams and to set up learner exam accommodations as identified.

Learner and Instructor Support

• Works collaboratively with learner administration and student services roles to support a consistent and seamless learner experience across post-professional programs.
• Resolves technical or learner help requests and issues related to course activity and completion requirements, Canvas, Google Apps, Articulate/Rise and other online learning resources.
• Provides technology-related orientations and tutoring to both learners and instructors.
• Provides support as necessary for online sessions conducted via Zoom or Google Meet.
• Develops learning resources and support documentation such as tutorials, tip sheets, chatbot development, and learner handbook / reference resources. 

Education Technology Selection, Implementation, and Maintenance

• Coordinating as necessary with central resources (such as the Online and Continuing Education team, Centre for Teaching and Learning, IST, etc), participates in the research, evaluation, and testing of all new tools and technologies considered for use in courses
• Leads the technical evaluation and development of technology implementation strategies within approved Faculty and program direction, including quality assurance, training, documentation, transition, and release
• Leads implementation and configuration of educational technologies within established governance frameworks, including lifecycle management through monitoring ongoing support, compatibility and fitness for purpose, and identifying when upgrades, replacement or retirement should be considered.
  

Administrative / Project Support

• Informs the educational technology components of cross-functional projects to establish and track project milestones, etc
• Facilitates the planning, coordination, and documentation of educational technology project initiatives, ensuring project plans, decisions, risks, and action items are accurately documented, communicated, and proactively managed in collaboration with the Manager and Director. 

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree preferred – preferably related to educational technology, education, information management, or a related field
• Minimum 2 years experience working within a technology enhanced learning environment, preferably at a postsecondary level
• Minimum 2 years experience with Canvas (and/or other learning management systems) and content authoring and production tools
• Demonstrated aptitude and comfort with learning and utilizing both administrative technologies (Google Suite, etc) and preferably, a variety of different educational technologies
• Experience with Articulate (Rise, Storyline, etc), web design and/or other programming skills preferred
• Superior client service orientation and communication skills including the ability to facilitate the completion of tasks and objectives in a dynamic and demanding team setting
• Excellent organizational and time management skills including the ability to think creatively, strategize, problem-solve, prioritize, and execute in the face of strict deadlines
