The Position:

Responsible for designing and developing global technical curriculum for instructor-led and online delivery formats. Works closely with subject matter experts for the development of technically accurate curriculum content. Keeps abreast of new instructional design methodologies and processes in order to include into existing and future curriculum. Ensures that curriculum standards are being met by auditing curriculum as well as guiding, evaluating, and training instructors. Leads work group efforts to improve curriculum and training processes by providing continual feedback and recommendations on existing curriculum based on instructor and field experience. Provides technical training and field engineering support to internal and external customers in support of Panasonic Avionics systems, products, and processes.  Support field engineering activities, including providing technical guidance and troubleshooting system/hardware/software issues.

Curriculum Development and Lifecycle Maintenance

  • Work with management and assigned resources to determine analysis and design and to develop relevant course content and effective delivery methods and media.
  • Develop curriculum modules that may be re-purposed within multiple training courses.
  • Write instructional materials for multiple formats including instructor-led, video, and self-paced training using various authoring and development tools.
  • Develop test items and exams to support learning objectives and standards. Manage the core repository of the test bank providing statistical data and analysis relative to the effectiveness of trainee assessment.
  • Research new instructional design and training methodologies and processes in order to incorporate into existing and future curriculum.
  • Adhere to quality assurance processes, approved repair station training manual and repair station quality control manual, and other relevant documents.

Platform Instructor

  • Deliver technical training in a classroom, video or online delivery medium increasing system/application complexity.
  • Conduct student laboratory periods, practical demonstrations and exercises.
  • Administer written, practical exams, and maintain student records.
  • Administer class evaluations in order to obtain metrics of training effectiveness.
  • Initiate curriculum and/or documentation change requests to ensure material is accurate.

Process Improvement

  • Assess and provide ongoing feedback and recommendations on existing curriculum.
  • Lead work groups for process definition and improvement.
  • Develop and maintain Quality Operating Procedures and Work Instructions conforming to quality standards.
  • Accurately estimate project work effort and reports progress, issues, and risks to Project Manager in a timely manner.
  • Participate in instructor and class evaluations to improve teaching effectiveness.
  • Train new and/or junior level instructors to ensure subject matter and technical knowledge.
  • Leverage field experience to enhance/improve training curriculum, embed technical expertise in training development activities, and identify new training development opportunities for target audiences.

Technical Training and Documentation

  • Develop, maintain, and share knowledge of Panasonic products and installations, including system software and associated equipment, applying practical knowledge to enhance the value of training.
  • Remain current as new products and enhancements are released and maintain maintenance and troubleshooting knowledge to the highest level. Maintain a detailed working knowledge of aircraft avionics systems which interface with Panasonic equipment.
  • Perform as training/engineering liaison for development or integration of next generation Panasonic IFE systems. Continuously obtain new data, specifications, and interface often with the groups developing new products and software.
  • Review and evaluate documentation such as wiring diagrams, maintenance manuals, component manuals, operation manuals, service literature, and test and requirements documentations.

The wage range of $87,000 – $146,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. Actual compensation varies depending on the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives (please also ensure to include a full list of “other forms of compensation” applicable to any posting too, and this would include GEB, NQDC, commissions, profit-sharing, as just some illustrative examples).

What We’re Looking For:

  • College degree preferred.  
  • 5+ years of experience developing technical curriculum in a corporate environment.
  • Experience with aircraft maintenance practices and/or avionics highly preferred.
  • Technical experience in engineering, Information Technology, electronics/avionics systems, audio/video production preferred.
  • Experience in a training organization preferred.
  • Working knowledge of global civil aviation regulations and requirements preferred.
  • Working knowledge of aviation maintenance training and technical publications methods and standards preferred.
  • Experienced technical knowledge of In-Flight Entertainment systems, system technology, and related components.
  • Network/Software and system development/integration experience is desired.
  • Working knowledge of Linux/Unix commands, file system structure, TCP/IP networks and troubleshooting methods.
  • Ability to understand and use wiring schematics, diagrams and other engineering/aircraft documentation preferred.
  • Ability to operate standard electronic test equipment and tooling.
  • Familiarity with FAA, CAA, and ATA requirements for avionics equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable interacting directly with customers.
  • Ability to present and instruct technical information in a professional and engaging manner.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to people with diverse cultural backgrounds, educational experiences, and learning styles.
  • Understanding of adult learning concepts and various training methodologies.
  • Proficient skills for developing and delivering various training curriculum types.
  • Proficient-level knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio.
  • Proficient experience with learning management system administration.
  • Proficient-level knowledge of current e-learning technologies.
  • Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced training professional with a full understanding of aviation maintenance practices and company policies and procedures.
  • Resolves a wide range of issues in innovative and practical ways.
  • Works on problems of diverse to complex scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of variable factors.
  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
